I drive an '09 Nissan Versa hatchback (base model). I'm sick of burning CD's and listening to the same songs, listening to songs from my phone echoed by the cup holder, and there's far too much feedback with an FM transmitter for my iPod. What I am looking to do is simply buy a stock Nissan Versa stereo with an auxiliary plug-in. Is/are there any additional components I would need aside from the new stock stereo itself? I plan on recruiting a technologically savvy friend who can install it for me.
And in case anyone is curious, I'd like to stick with a stock stereo as I'd intend to leave it in even when selling or trading in.

Have looked up what seems like every bit of help for iMessage, but can't get it to work for us. Situation is:
I have an iphone 4GS, latest iOS. iMessage is now working, on my own apple account (email@example.com). Have sim with texts and data included.
Husband has my old iPhone 3GS, updated software, iMessage will not work. Is on another apple account (firstname.lastname@example.org). Has sim with texts and data included, same network as mine.
Bought my son an iPod touch 4th gen, iMessage will not work. On his own apple account (email@example.com) [more inside]

I'm still using a Samsung flip phone from the earlier part of this century. It works fine; I'm not a big cell phone user, but it calls and texts, is reasonably cheap, and I'm quite happy with it. For some upcoming graduate work, though, I need a device that is capable of runnings apps (specifically drug information, like Epocrates) and am weighing my different options. More below the fold. I lost my iTunes installation in a hard drive crash. I have a backup from many months ago. I have an iPad and iPhone that have never been synced to iTunes because I got them since the hard drive failure. I'd like to re-install iTunes from the backup and sync my iPad and iPhone to the re-installed iTunes without losing any data or re-installing apps. How would I do that? [more inside]

Since returning from a Palo Duro Canyon (Texas) trip, I’ve been torturing myself: How the heck was my iPod stolen from my car? Is there such thing as an alarm-disabling device? Is The Flash alive and well, phasing through car doors to swiftly swipe 7+-year-old iPod Nanos?
I’m anal retentive about the alarm/locks. I always set the alarm. It’s ingrained in me.
The storage compartment between the front seats was opened and left open, and the auxiliary cable and iPod were taken. The back armrest was pulled down and left down. Nothing else was gone from the car – not the few dollars stuffed into the ashtray, not my camping gear, not my delicious fruit and nut hiking snacks. [more inside]

I am writing some documentation for an app that runs on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. I need a consistant way to refer to these devices and am looking for something better than "iPhone/iPod/iPad". For example:
"Hold your iPhone/iPod/iPad's camera so that the QR code is centered in the brackets."
I've come up with either
"... iPhone/iPod/iPad (referred to as iPhone from here on)"
Anyone have a better idea?

I have an iPad 2, a Sandisk mp3 player and about three ipods floating around my house. I also have a Sony ICF-m1000 table radio. When I plug my iPad into the AUX input on the table radio, it's not nearly loud enough.
How can I cheaply amplify the audio from my I-devices so they sound good on the Sony radio? [more inside]

Good news: I found an iPod Touch (3rd Generation, model A1318, 64GB) on the ground by the highway! Bad News: It looks like it was run over by a truck, or a few trucks. Good News: it turns on when I press the button! Bad News: The touch screen glass is completely cracked off, so it doesn't respond to touch. Good News: it responds and operates otherwise perfectly, it charges, iTunes sees that it's plugged in (but won't let me proceed without a passcode), the screen looks crisp and bright. What are my options from here? [more inside]

A few years ago I heard a popular scientist on the radio discussing the effects of listening to music via earbud headphones. He said that if someone can hear the music I'm listening to, I am doing permanent damage to my ears. Is this true?
I would appreciate reference to any peer-reviewed scientific research on this topic, if available.

I am looking for a new Aux-In Cable (3.5mm, male to male) to use my mp3 player in my car. I had a couple of cheaper retractable ones, but they usually break after a short period of use. I live in a cold climate and the cord gets cold in the car for long periods of time and I think this has an affect on its life.
I have seen some people with thicker aux-in cables in their car and I have searched, but I can't seem to locate one for a decent price.
Does anyone know where I might be able to buy a thick (preferably white, but not critical) 3.5mm Aux-in cable?

What was that music webapp I had on my iPod? Help me remember the site I had saved to my homescreen a while ago. I'm fairly sure it was a webapp and not a proper app. I seem to remember the name for the icon was shortened to a two-letter acronym; I thought it was DI for digitalinspiration.com but googling that shows I was wrong. I'll try to describe it anyway: the app had a series of square, colourful icons down the left-hand side, not unlike the style to the iTunes gift card drawings. Each icon represented a category; I definately remember 'lounge', and the others were mostly dance/electronic music related genres like house, groove etc. probably hip-hop stuff too. Definately a cool and groovy site.
