I have video files in various formats and want to put them on my iPod touch. I have upwards of 40 hours on airplanes looming in my near future and those hours will go much faster if I can watch delightful TV shows and engaging movie content. [more inside]

My old laptop died, and I purchased a new laptop. I was able to recover the purchased songs from my itunes account, and they show up on my new laptop in my itunes library. However, my ipod won't load songs from my itunes library. It will only load the songs I have imported by cd, not the purchases from itunes. Can you help me? [more inside]

Have a newest gen (6th?) ipod touch and heard that I can use google hangouts to send normal SMS text messages, but after installing there is no way in the interface to send a message, other than a Hangouts message. I can call any phone number just fine, but would love to figure out a way to send free text messages. Have found "Text Free" and other similar apps...if Hangouts can't do what I want, what is the best alternative?
Child Bac appears to have mis-entered her passcode on her 5th-generation iPod touch enough times to cause it to disable itself. It does not appear that the iPod has ever been synced with iTunes or backed up to iCloud. Is there no way to regain access to the device without a full system restore and loss of data? Really? Anybody who can touch a locked iPod for ten seconds can carry out a denial of service attack against it? Surely I'm missing something.
I'd like to give my 2 nieces and 1 nephew a shared device this Christmas, with which they can send and receive SMS and MMS messages (or similar) to and from an explicit whitelist of contacts. Apple iMessage is not an option. Is it possible? [more inside]

I've had an unopened IPod Touch (5th Gen/32gb) for months now. Not sure what I should do with it. I've considered selling it to buy a smartphone (like a Moto G/X) since I still have a flip phone and in my field of marketing and graphic design, that is kind of weird. Should I get a smartphone, use Ipod Touch and hold on to dumbphone or trade Touch in for an Ipad mini or other tablet? [more inside]
My Honda Civic is quirky when it comes to playing and controlling an iPod for music or podcasts. I need a method to play lengthy podcasts over my stereo AND to retain the ability to fast-forward and rewind within those podcasts. I have many ways to stream or connect to play audio, but the only way I've found that allows me to fast-forward or rewind is also the one that apparently falls prey to a "known issue", causing me to get a random stereo "crash". Looking for an iOS app that will let me set up a table (of dice scores and results), then roll on that table by pushing a button. For example, I might set up a table 'FOO': 1-2 = A, 3-4 = B, 5-6 = C. I could then push the FOO button, and it'd roll a d6 and give me A, B or C. Does this sort of thing exist?

I'd really like to get some wireless speakers I could plug my ipod or iphone into in and have it play throughout the house. Money is tight at the moment, which got me thing that one way to do it would to buy speakers piecemeal. To start, get one speaker that is portable. As money comes along, add more speakers to it. But I am afraid I have no idea what to look for when looking at speakers. [more inside]
Hi, We just got an Ipod Nano (the latest one) for Christmas and when we first got it out of the box we were able to download music from our computer to the I-Pod. We did it with I-tunes and I remember seeing something that indicated that the I-Pod was being recognized by the I-tunes website. No problems downloading to the I-Pod. But now I'm trying to add some music and the I-Pod is not being recognized. The new songs are in my library (under I-tunes) and they are already paid for. I have Windows Vista. The little white USB cord is not having a problem with charging the I-Pod, but nothing on the computer indicates that the I-Pod is recognized. When I am in the library, I click on DEVICES, and I can see a word that says sync, but sync is not in bold, another words I can't click on it. Any advice? I already turned my computer off and on again, and also took out the USB and put it back in as well. I went to the website and read the manual but there is so much there and I don't see how to do any of the instructions if the I-pod is not recognized. Thanks, Lynnie-the-pooh
I drive an '09 Nissan Versa hatchback (base model). I'm sick of burning CD's and listening to the same songs, listening to songs from my phone echoed by the cup holder, and there's far too much feedback with an FM transmitter for my iPod. What I am looking to do is simply buy a stock Nissan Versa stereo with an auxiliary plug-in. Is/are there any additional components I would need aside from the new stock stereo itself? I plan on recruiting a technologically savvy friend who can install it for me. And in case anyone is curious, I'd like to stick with a stock stereo as I'd intend to leave it in even when selling or trading in.

I've googled this, but every reference is to Hulu Plus. I have an iPod 5th gen, and the Chromecast dongle plugged in to my TV. Using the Chrome browser for iPod + Chromecast app, watching stuff like Netflix works fine. However, when I visit Hulu.com, the site detects my OS/Browser, and won't serve me content unless I buy Hulu Plus. Of course I can plug my laptop directly in to the TV, and watch Hulu's free programming that way. But not with Chromecast. Is there a way to mimic a desktop browser in Chrome, and then 'Cast' a Hulu program to the TV? Other options?
I currently use approximately four+ computers with all major OS'es (Mac, Windows, Linux-Ubuntu) between work and home. Plus an Ipod Classic for portable music listening. Problem is keeping my music library up to date on all machines, or synced together. If I create a playlist, or change ratings, genre, etc. the results also aren't propagated to the other machines. On Windows and Mac I've been using Itunes but I'm not necessarily tied to it, but it does work on 2 of the 3 OS'es. Any suggestions? There are some previous similar questions, but all look several years old.
iDeviceFilter: I'm hoping to move my son's iPod syncing from the admin user on a Macbook to his own user on the same computer, so that his syncing is then done separately in his user's iTunes. Can you walk me through this to abate my fear of cancelling-by-misunderstood-sync, please?
I was given a iphone 4s from a relative as a gift. I already have a nice android and thought it would be cool to just use the iphone as a ipod instead of just selling the gift and risk offending them. It came factory reset and stays on a activation screen awaiting a sim card. I can not figure out how to get past this screen and just use it as a device which is fairly easy to do with any android phone. Do I need to "unlock" or "jailbreak" the phone to bypass the sim card need or do I need to buy a sim card just to use it as a ipod with no carrier or phone functionality? Please help and recommend any useful software.

I'm still using a Samsung flip phone from the earlier part of this century. It works fine; I'm not a big cell phone user, but it calls and texts, is reasonably cheap, and I'm quite happy with it. For some upcoming graduate work, though, I need a device that is capable of runnings apps (specifically drug information, like Epocrates) and am weighing my different options. More below the fold. I have a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon with its original factory radio, a Kenwood KDC-MPV6022. I've just now tried to use its Aux In feature by connecting a cable to its RCA cables as listed on page 31 of the manual. According to Page 27 of the manual, the radio's configuration menu should have an Aux On/Off setting but this setting doesn't appear in my menu. I can hear the music from the iPhone but it's in addition to the other source (radio or CD), not instead of the other source, i.e. I hear both the iPhone and the other sound combined. I've tried connecting older iPods in case there were some equipment compatibility issues but the results were the same. What am I missing here? The radio has the Aux In cables so clearly it's expecting the audio. Why doesn't the radio allow me to select it as an input?
I lost my iTunes installation in a hard drive crash. I have a backup from many months ago. I have an iPad and iPhone that have never been synced to iTunes because I got them since the hard drive failure. Can anyone recommend an inexpensive portable amplifier to use in my car so I can listen to my iPod? [more inside]
This should be so simple. I bought an classic but broken 1950s console TV to turn into a bar. I pulled the tube and all the electronics, except the speaker. Now I want to add a small amplifier to which I can connect a smart phone or iPod and which will power the single speaker. I bought this neat little stereo amp, but it turns out you can't just mash the lefts and right outputs together and attach them to a speaker. So what do I need to do this? Difficulty level: No electronics experience of specialized tools.

Since returning from a Palo Duro Canyon (Texas) trip, I’ve been torturing myself: How the heck was my iPod stolen from my car? Is there such thing as an alarm-disabling device? Is The Flash alive and well, phasing through car doors to swiftly swipe 7+-year-old iPod Nanos? I’m anal retentive about the alarm/locks. I always set the alarm. It’s ingrained in me. The storage compartment between the front seats was opened and left open, and the auxiliary cable and iPod were taken. The back armrest was pulled down and left down. Nothing else was gone from the car – not the few dollars stuffed into the ashtray, not my camping gear, not my delicious fruit and nut hiking snacks. [more inside]
I want to provide a way for a relative to listen to audiobooks while working out. He is almost completely technologically illiterate, and his wife will have to put the books on the device for him. I have a 2nd generation ipod shuffle (the kind that's about 1 inch by 1 1/2 inches and is just a giant clip) which I would like to start using again. However, there is not a single computer nor human in our house which will tolerate iTunes. It's not an option, really; never using the shuffle again will happen before installing iTunes will. I have seen a couple apps on the internet for using this type of shuffle without iTunes, but I haven't found any reviews of them or clear instructions for them. Thus, I am asking y'all. Anybody know a good, easy way to get songs off my vortexbox and onto my little shuffle? I don't need playlists or synching or stats or anything, just the ability to move files from one place to another and listen to them on the shuffle. Thanks! [more inside]
I just jailbreaked (jailbroke?) my iPod Touch. What are the must-have apps, modifications, etc that I should get for it? I'm running iOS 6. I'm particularly interested in good Notification Center widgets, since that seems to be the biggest thing that can't be done through the regular App Store. Recommendations for good themes would be swell too. [more inside]

My wonderful iPod, going on nine years now, seems to have finally gotten to the point where I can't fix it anymore. I've replaced the hard drive, battery, hard drive cable, and logic board, and yet all it does is turn on, show the Apple logo, and turn off, repeating over and over. What else could be wrong, and how can I fix it? This is a B&W 4th gen iPod, originally 40 GB.
