There's this vine I saw a few weeks ago. By way of summary: [more inside]
So, I currently have a system where when I accomplish a certain daily goal, I stick a star sticker on a physical calendar. Now I want to keep doing that, but on my phone! [more inside]
I accidentally deleted an iPhone app (Voice Recorder). Associated with the app were audio files that I didn't have anywhere else, some of which I'd be pretty bummed to lose. There are no phone backups. Is it possible that these files still exist on my phone, and with the right tools, one could recover them? [more inside]
Looking for a digital camera recommendation. Something small and compact to take biking and hiking that is able to take action shots. [more inside]
I need a grocery app that my husband and I can both add to/sync lists for iOS (web interface nice but not mandatory). We've been using Buy Me a Pie, but it's gotten glitchy for us and won't let me add him to lists. I've seen this post, and will check out the other recs, but it's a year old, which is forever in app development time. Possible complication: spouse beta tests new iOS versions on his phone for work reasons.
I'm looking for an iPhone app that displays whether or not an Internet connexion is on, as can be found on a PC. I use wifi at home & work and my carrier's 3G on the road but sometimes, although the phone connects to the router and the wifi signal is there, there is no internet. Short of looking at the router itself, is there any app that can give you the actual Internet access icon directly on the phone?
For the time being, I'm living in southwest Virginia. I'm having major problems making and receiving calls. Details within. [more inside]
My iPhone 4s was stolen a few weeks ago. Last week my early 2011 MacBook Pro screen went dark and wouldn't come back on. [more inside]
I'm trying to take a break in the evening from a screen, but I'm finding it difficult to put down my iPhone and walk away with just the sheer power of will. Are there any apps I can download that would allow me to block everything BUT the actual phone part? I still want to be able to make or receive phone calls (and texts too, preferably, but that is not mandatory). I have an iPhone 5S.
A friend's child passed away this week. They left behind an iPhone, iPad and MacBook, but no passwords. Looking for recommendations on best course of action to access the devices. [more inside]
I'm looking for an iPhone app that lets one keep time records (simple in-out-lunch's fine, don't need task/client tracking), but most importantly has a presence on the lock screen. In a perfect world I could get a lunch hour countdown clock too, but I'm not greedy. Any suggestions?
I dropped my iPhone. The screen cracked. Can I take it into an Apple Store and have them fix it there? Or do I need to send it in to them for repair? Hoping to do this same day if possible. I'm in NYC if relevant.
I'm planning an internet/app/social media free week, and could use some advice on the best way to do this. Specifically because some of the items I want to work during my internet break require online tools. Also, my phone doesn't work well without data; making this extra special snowflake-y. [more inside]
Should be simple, right,? But I am being thwarted at every turn. [more inside]
Are independent phone repair shops an okay place to have iPhone batteries replaced? [more inside]
Recommend some games I can download to my iPhone 6 that can be played on the subway with no cell phone connection. [more inside]
According to my carrier, my iphone 5S had two registered data usages at 12:00am on the 15th for a total of 575MB. The problem is, I was asleep at the time, and the phone should have been accessing our wireless connection. So what ate the last of my data? [more inside]
A few weeks ago, I got my phone wet (dropped it off a raft...) and I immediately put it into rice for three full days. Turning it on, lo and behold it worked. For a few days, anyway... [more inside]
Apple Maps and the Google Maps app will give me directions. Apple Maps and the Google Maps app will give me restaurant reviews. With either of these apps, is there any way to combine these functions-- as in, "Google, get me to Piccadilly Circus and tell me the highest-rated restaurant along the way?" Or "Get me to Piccadilly Circus and route me past a good French restaurant?" If not, is there any app that will do this? [more inside]
Does anyone make a neck strap that suspends an iPhone from the neck in landscape mode? I'm looking for a way to shoot some very basic hands-free video while avoiding "vertical video syndrome". I tried searching Amazon and couldn't seem to find such a thing.
Suddenly, when I use my finger on my iPhone (in some circumstances, but not others, and confusingly timed), a red dot shows up. I don't think I did anything to make this happen, but it happens fairly frequently. I've tried to google but can't find an answer on point. Thanks!
I am trying to figure out the best way to use dropbox to store and organise photos from various devices for various uses. Detail over the fold. [more inside]
My iPhone was dropped in the lake. Sticky situation all around, best solution? [more inside]
Outgoing and incoming texts from someone else showed on an iPhone today. How or why would this happen? [more inside]
When I look at Android apps in Google Play, it's easy to click a button and see what permissions it needs. Is there any way in the iOS App Store to find out what permissions an app needs without buying it? [more inside]
I have an iPhone 5s and service through Virgin Mobile USA. I bought the phone outright and have a $35 per month plan. No contract. I pay them, they give me service. Except now I'm in Canada for 5 weeks and they don't have coverage here. So it seems like the most straightforward thing for me to do is swap out the SIM card for one I buy here. But that will only work if the phone is unlocked. So I email Virgin Mobile USA, give them all the relevant info and ask them, "Is my phone unlocked?" They reply, "Virgin Mobile USA does not support international roaming, which means that we do not provide service while you are located in another country. If you travel outside of our coverage area, your phone will not have service." This is, of course, already known to me and exactly why I need to know if my phone is unlocked. This is the only answer I can get from them. So I'm turning to The Green: how can I find out if my phone is unlocked if Virgin Mobile USA won't tell me?
For obvious reasons, I won't give my real name but let's make it be Daniel Smith. When I look at my name in the contacts screen, there is another name written between quotation marks "Bledsoe." Whenever I send an email to my mother, Bledsoe is what pops up and not my real name. Bledsoe happens to be the name of a contact I have on my phone. How did this get transferred as my name and nickname? How do I change this?
I have decided to acquire a new iPhone. However, I've been playing Neko Atsume, and have gotten pretty far along in collecting cats and cat-related objects. Is there a way to back up my game progress so I can pick up on the new phone where I left off instead of having to start all over? [more inside]
I’m mostly only interested in tweets with links. I’m looking for both an iPhone app and a web interface (or, as a fallback, a Windows app) that will just show me that. [more inside]
I've used an iPod Touch and prepaid feature phone for years, and I'm now looking to consolidate my devices into one. I'm hoping to get a used or refurbished iPhone, and looking for some advice as to where, and potentially, what to buy. [more inside]
I've been offered a spare iPhone 6 by a relative (my current US iPhone 4S on a AT&T phone is aging and not always working well) but this iPhone 6 was bought in Hong Kong and was used in China. Is it possible for me to use it on a US carrier plan without too much extra trouble/expense? What about in the UK and elsewhere in Europe ? Will I be able to transfer the iPhone 6 to my US Apple account (with all my iTunes/App Store content) OK? Thanks for your tips, MeFites!
I used to have an iPhone. Now I have an Amazon Fire phone. I really like it...the problem is, I'm not getting texts from my co-workers' iPhones. [more inside]
So, I have a standard Notes app on my iPhone and iPad. Lots of problems lately with reading/deleting mail on both, particularly with Yahoo!, so I deleted my Yahoo! and Gmail accounts and downloaded the particular apps for each instead. Then I made a note in the Notes app and to my dismay saw that most of my notes had disappeared. I googled this and learned that the Notes app may have assigned my notes to the email accounts I deleted (why?) but searching those online email accounts has only uncovered some, not all, my missing notes. iCloud doesn't have them either. Are they gone forever, hive mind? Can you think of something I've missed?
It's time to upgrade our iPhones and I feel that I lack a PhD in rocket science or whatever is required to decipher AT&T's policies and get the best deal. Help? [more inside]

Suggest a microphone to plug into my iPhone 5S to improve the audio of my iPhone videos? Lavalier preferred, but a little shotgun thingie would be ok too. Hoping to achieve improved voice quality with less roomtone, and I need the audio file to record right onto the video file- I don't want to sync it in post. Thanks!

I've noticed that the iPhone Mail app automatically lists me as the first recipient when I am on the To: line of most emails. When I read the same email in Outlook, however, I am not listed as the first recipient; sometimes I am even the last on the To: line. Why is this happening? [more inside]
I'm hoping to create an iPhone app that's a travel guide whose text pages will include some foreign terms. Users should be able to touch a foreign term to see a pop-up phonetic pronunciation. But the programmers I'm considering hiring say they're not sure how to do this, and suspect it might be expensive. Can anyone smart save the day and come up with a solution? [more inside]
i'd like to keep a record of phone calls received - my iPhone does this, but only for the most recent two months. Can I export these somewhere or extend the time they're kept for? To clarify, I don't want to audiorecord the actual call, just keep a list of who called me and when. [more inside]
I'd like to make this as easy as possible without getting any new software or apps. But, if I don't have any options, I would be willing to get apps/ software (I have a Mac). It's about 3 years of communication over txt. [more inside]
I need to give a demonstration on an iPhone 6+, and need to have full control of the device. Difficulty level: I will not be holding the phone, and will not have a desk surface for a traditional mouse. In a perfect and just world, I would simply be able to connect a bluetooth mouse and use it like any other input device, but I understand that iOS does not support mice. Assume I do not need any multi touch gestures, just taps and swipes. [more inside]
When my iPhone 6 updated its operating system yesterday, a new app for the Apple Watch appeared on the first screen. The link is to an ad saying the watch is coming soon. I tried the "delete app" procedure of pressing and holding the app button until it started quivering, but there's no "delete" option like there is on programs I've installed. I won't be buying an Apple Watch, and I want the space on the opening screen back. Is there any way?
I'm looking for a pair of in-ear headphones that include a physical Mute button for the microphone. Any suggestions? [more inside]
