Is there an app, combo of apps or app/email combo where I can send a calendar event from my mac to my wife's iPhone - and then the event is added to a calendar app on her iPhone?

I'm interested in developing iPhone/iPod Touch applications, however my understanding is the SDK only works in OSX. I have a XP desktop and a Vista notebook with an AMD Athlon and Turion (both dual core) respectively, both pretty good machines. Is there any way to avoid spending serious cash buying a Mac just to get into iPhone development?

I've set up mail2web as an Exchange server on my iPhone purely for my contacts from Apple Addressbook, but it doesn't seem to pick up the groups the contacts should be in. is this possible at all? Or am I doing something fundamentally wrong?
