Finally, after a number of years of lugging around books, cameras, dumb phones, an iPod and an iPad, I'm thinking it might be time to streamline my daily life a little and cross over to the smartphone side. Because I use the iPod and iPad heavily already, I'm not really considering anything other than an iPhone, but I have questions, mostly about what it will do to my iTunes library. [more inside]
I was noting to a friend the other day that iTunes sucked. Something must have heard me and decided to take revenge, because my entire music library just disappeared in a puff of smoke (not literally, but damn near). Halp! [more inside]
I updated my iPhone 4S to the newest version of the music player. Now it's displaying all the music I've ever bought on iTunes, even stuff I unchecked and deleted from the computer years ago. I've told it to stop, but it doesn't acknowledge my selection. How do I make it stop? [more inside]
Hope someone can help - I can't seem to find the answer anywhere. I have my music library shared with my wife's mac. I would like to put some of these albums on her iPhone, but iTunes/Family Sharing won't let me- it only works with iTunes-store-purchased music. Is there any way to share my own CD collection that I have in my iTunes with my wife's iPhone, without deleting what she already has on hers? Thanks!
I like to listen to albums and playlists from my music collection on my iPhone. I don't need a streaming service, or radio, or recommendations, or social networks. I just want a simple user interface that lets me pick out an album (or maybe a playlist) and listen to it. Does such a thing exist for iOS? The built-in music app has gotten way too complicated, and does not work well for me or my family. [more inside]
Should be simple, right,? But I am being thwarted at every turn. [more inside]
Asking for my partner: Not able to restore or update an iPhone 5s on iTunes without getting repeated error messages which cancel the update/restoration. Please hope us! [more inside]
I'm finally making the switch from PC to Mac, and I have some questions to make sure it all goes smoothly with my peripherals, which are currently synced to my PC. I have an iPhone 6 and an iPad 4th gen updated to the latest iOS. I'm specifically concerned with keeping my text messages and app data. [more inside]
What's the best way to keep podcast subscriptions and listens on two Macs and an iPhone synced that supports downloading episodes (i.e., not web-only)? If the answer involves iTunes, I might need an explanation of how to fix it since each copy of iTunes seems to be doing its own thing. I'm not looking for live slinging/transfer of audio to another device since the Macs are in completely different locations and the phone isn't always around.
Going to try and sell my iPhone. Looking for suggestions to try and wipe it of any information. [more inside]
After posting my last question, I have purchased Downcast and am ready to use it as my main podcast organization method/app. [more inside]

iTunes WiFi Syncing seems to have worked around 3% of the time I've tried to use it. Any way to increase that percentage a bit? [more inside]
Why won't my music sync and play properly?! I have been struggling with this since iOS 5? 6? Feels like forever - I am so beyond frustrated. So much so that I am ready to just stop using music on my iPhone and iPad completely. Which was the reason I got an iPhone in the first place. [more inside]
I have a jailbroken iPhone 5s that iTunes will not recognize. [more inside]
Is there hope in restoring photos that have not been backed up or synced onto iCloud? [more inside]
I normally listen to podcasts streamed from my iPhone 5 to my car over bluetooth or occasionally via USB. A few times, I've plugged in the phone only to have it start playing a random track, one which I have never downloaded and which (I have confirmed by searching on my phone and on a synced computer) is not in my iTunes music library. I don't think it's through iTunes radio, either, as the songs do not appear in my radio history and are unlikely to be generated by the stations I have developed. Where are these songs coming from??? This morning it was something by Of Montreal, if that's helpful.
Trying to get my iPhone 4S to restore and sync from recent backup via iTunes and no love. [more inside]
This is simple. When my phone is in portrait modein the native music app, you get a useful player. But in landscape mode the screen turns into a collection of album covers to choose music. Which stinks. Any way to have the portrait usability in landscape mode?
So ever since the new iTunes version came out for iPhone, when you open it up, it starts at the radio screen. Not "Now Playing" or even "Songs." It opens to the thing that doesn't work with my usage plan and I have to change it back. Every. Single. Time. So It's an annoyance. The question is, is there ANY way to change it short of jailbreaking the thing?
I have all this music on my iPhone. But when I go to play it, it has to download it from the cloud first. Although the playlists are there, nothing is actually being stored on the phone. So it takes ages and chews through lots of data when I just want to play a song. How do I get rid of all this cloud nonsense and just store old-fashioned music files on my iPhone? (Relevant: I have iTunes Match switched *off* in Settings -> Music on my iPhone.)
I have an iphone and an ipad which I use daily. Due to work policies, my data is setup via Outlook (not Exchange) and synced via iTunes to both devices. I use iCloud to maintain mirrored info for websites, pictures, etc but NOT contacts. I'm getting tired of having to plug both devices in to sync them to the same data. Is there anyway to use iTunes to sync to my phone and then use iCloud to maintain data integrity across to the ipad? Or will this end up giving me duplicates in my Outlook contacts?
I lost my iTunes installation in a hard drive crash. I have a backup from many months ago. I have an iPad and iPhone that have never been synced to iTunes because I got them since the hard drive failure. I'd like to re-install iTunes from the backup and sync my iPad and iPhone to the re-installed iTunes without losing any data or re-installing apps. How would I do that? [more inside]
Does iOS 7 (beta) sync to iTunes 10.7 or will iTunes 11.0.x be required? I have held back on upgrading iTunes past 10.7, but I am wondering if I'll be forced to upgrade to 11.0.x once iOS 7 is released. I sync via USB on a Mac with 10.6.8. I'm not inserted in WiFi sync and don't use iCloud.
I sold someone an iPhone 3G after I dropped it two stories, fully disclosing the damage as far as I could tell; destroyed glass, a big chunk missing out of the back, non functioning power button, and that the antenna was likely broken since it would not connect to a carrier/network. It was also clear from the description that this was being sold as "for parts, not working." Buyer is claiming they are unable to activate the phone in iTunes, which says "there is a problem with your iPhone." Is this to be expected, given the description above? Can you help me say how, specifically this is to be expected given the condition described?
I want to stream my iTunes music from my DropBox via an iOs app called Tunebox. But my music's Apple Lossless, and Tunebox only handles AAC/MP3. So I need to efficiently recreate/duplicate all playlists with lossy versions and figure out where to store the darned music library. [more inside]

I have an iPhone5 and an original iPad, which I back up to my PC (running iTunes on Windows XP). However, now when I plug in either device to the PC and start iTunes, all the data is listed as "Other" (in an orange bar across the bottom of the window). Further, when I click "Back Up Now" the sync begins, then stops after a second or two with no error message. Can I recover from this without losing my data? [more inside]
Is there an iTunes alternative that will easily allow me to drag and drop files back and forth from my PC to my iPhone? My old computer died, and iTunes is being ridiculous, not allowing me to sync to another computer. Should I use MediaMonkey? iFunbox? What's the standard that everyone uses? Thank you.

I'm using iTunes 10.5.3.3 to sync my iPhone 4S. (running win xp sp3) Currently, It's time to format my PC C:\ drive. I have all my music on the D drive (I don't need to backup songs before formatting C drive) iTunes currently sync to those files, and I need to recover iTunes full settings after the format. (so iTunes could have the same Library and Playlists 'picture' equals to prior formatting. How can I do that ? what files need to be backed-up before formatting, and I can I make iTunes full recover on a new formatted C drive ? Thanks. Ron

I have 300gb of music, a house, several Mac laptops, a Mac G5, a router, two iphones, an ipad, and several external HDs where the music is stored. I would like to be able to play music anywhere in my house, control it wirelessly without the laptops and update libraries as well as all my devices with whatever I like anywhere in the house, without having to drag out the external USB HD to plug into various laptops like I do now. I'm willing to buy equipment to let this happen. Bonus if it lets me move movies onto a USB stick to plug into my nifty new tv. Details under the fold. [more inside]
