My 3+ year-old HTC One has developed a bug where the camera turns everything purple, battery life is so bad I have to plug it in before lunch, and it's developing some weird keyboard entry errors. Thinking of switching to the iPhone 6SE, but have questions! [more inside]
I'd like to buy a phone for around $250 or less that I can use now as well as with a new SIM card from an Israeli carrier when I move there this fall. Would the Moto G4 Plus allow me to do that? Is that a decent option? An older iPhone? Other? I'm open to anything Android or iOS, as long as I can post to Instagram and play Pokemon Go. :)
Obviously lots of web resources to help novices make this move... Are there any guides people found really well done to help a real technophobe?
I'm finally caving and buying a smartphone. Size is a major factor, but I'm also not sure how concerned I should be about the security of phones that are stuck with older versions of their OS. [more inside]
I am designing a project for about 10-20 undergraduate students (mostly traditional students but some non-traditional) where each will be asked to track their movements for a couple of weeks. Is there an easy, secure, mobile app for both Android and iPhone that will provide consistent location data in a reasonable format? Preferences would be for an app that doesn't drain the battery and one that allows you to set the interval for recording points. Nice but not critical would be some kind of reminder to record what they were doing at that time. [more inside]

My wee, sturdy iPhone 4 is reaching the end of its unnatural lifespan. I plan to get a new phone in January and cannot decide from these options: 5s, 6, and [unknown Android capable of seducing me]. Difficulty level: Canadian; have a decent month-to-month phone plan now and don't want to settle for less; smallish hands. [more inside]
I'm about to make the move from an iPhone to a Nexus 5X running Android. If you've made the iOS to Android switch recently, what was your experience like? What surprised you? What confused you? What did you forget to think about and do that you wish you had?
I am a Windows PC/Android person to the teeth, have never used any Apple hardware or software other than iTunes in my life, and am now suddenly in the position of having to use an iPhone 4S running iOS 8 as my main phone for the indefinite future. I have an original Droid with a slide-out keyboard with Verizon, and I'm looking to upgrade. I also have a Sony Smartwatch, first edition. I've been looking at iPhones longingly for a while, and Verizon had a deal on the iPhone 5c that expired yesterday, so without much thought, I ordered one. It's on backorder, and I have 14 days to try it and return it without penalty, and I'm only now doing proper research on my options. So here I am, looking for insight and input. [more inside]

I'm planning on getting my very first smartphone pretty soon. One of the ways that people seem to use phones (a lot? sometimes?) involves syncing info between couples: schedules, grocery lists, to-do lists, tracking the other person's phone to tell that they're stuck in traffic, etc. Is this really useful? Does wanting this mean I should get an iPhone (like my husband) or can I do Android? [more inside]
I know that it takes a while for many of the best iPhone apps to be adapted for Android and other platforms. Is there a site or some other list of these recent migrations that gets updated fairly frequently?

I think the time has come for me to jump the iPhone ship. The announcement of the Google version of the Galaxy S4 at I/O was the clincher. But I am not 100% sold on the idea, mainly because the S4 is an ugly brute, but also because I fear for the apps and innovation I will miss. Help me out, specifically in finding a worthy replacement for my beloved Mailbox app. [more inside]
I have had a reasonably happy relationship with my T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Desire Z) these past two years, but my contract is up, and I have long coveted the iPhone, mostly based on its picture taking and video chatting capabilities. Should I just get one and take advantage of T-Mobile's new pricing? Or should I jump to a new carrier? An attempt to make this less open-ended is inside. [more inside]
I am getting a Tablet for work, either a Nexus 10 or an iPad. I'm pretty well versed on the features and drawbacks for both, and I feel like if my other devices were either all Apple or all Google/Windows I'd make the choice based on matching my current device operating system ecosystem. BUT right now, each device I use has a different OS, so is there a better device to match my tablet operating system with? [more inside]
