t-mobile unlocking in the uk for iphone

How can I unlock an iphone tied to t-mobile in the UK? I have received as a Christmas present an iphone which is locked to t-mobile. I am currently on an 02 contract that ties me for a further 6 months. Clearly, I would like to use my 02 sim with this iphone, however, when I went to a shop who specialised in phone unlocking, to get it unlocked, I was told that he could not unlock it and that it would take atleast a month to get t-mobile to unlock it. It was also mentioned that the merger of t-mobile in to the new company everything everywhere will probably delay the unlocking further. I am getting the impression that I will be forced to take out a t-mobile contract as it stands. Anyone out there have any recent knowledge about t-mobile unlocking. Many thanks!

Prepaid SIM for iPhone 5 in the US?

I have an iPhone 5 purchased unlocked in the UK. I travel regularly to the US for 1-2 weeks at a time, often in situations where WiFi is not an option, and would like to be able to buy a pre-paid US SIM primarily for data. Now that the iPhone 5 has been out for a few months, has anyone finally gotten onboard with pre-paid nanoSIMs for the 5? Or is cutting down a regular SIM still the only option?

Activating a reset iPhone in the UK without a SIm...?

UK specific iPhone/SIM question: I need to activate my old iPhone 3GS 16gB, preferably without my own SIM. I am giving it to my nephew as a games device, not to use as a phone. I have reset and now it insists on a SIM. 1. are there workarounds so I don't have to buy a SIM, activate it then throw SIM away? 2 This was my O2 UK phone [on a company contract], so if you know anything about the iPhone elsewhere, it probably won't apply. 3. If the answer to the above is 'jailbreak it', can I use iTunes after? 4. if the answer is 'use your old SIM just for activation', will this link it to iTunes in some way? Bear in mind, I still use my SIM in my newer phone [actually purchased more recently, but an 8gB 3GS in reality. Yes, I know...] Cheers John

US iPhone in the UK

In a couple of weeks I will be traveling from the USA to England and would like to use my iPhone 3G while I am there. I would like to purchase a sim card from three.co.uk because that's the network all my family (who live in the UK) use. Am I correct in assuming that I'll need to jailbreak first before I can use a different sim card? [more inside]

How do I anonymously send a ringtone to an iPhone?

How do I go around sending a ringtone to a UK iPhone customer anonymously? I don't want them to incur any charges or other costs as a result, nor be bombarded by subsequent ringtones by some overzealous ringtone company. I simply want a website where I can select the ringtone, enter their number and off goes the ringtone. I am happy to pay for it. [more inside]

How can I download a free US-only iPhone app from the UK

I'm in the UK and want to download a free app that is only available through the US iTunes/App Store. I have memberships of both the UK and US iTunes stores, but unfortunately the credit card on my US account has expired. When it comes to the point at which I download the app (on either the computer or the phone) it asks for an updated credit card. If I could convince someone to "lend" me their iTunes login details for a short while, even if there was no money on their card, would this work? Anyone tried this or willing to help?

Using IPhone data plan in UK

I'm going to Great Britain for two weeks and will be splitting time between London and Cambridge. I have an IPhone and have signed up to use ATT's international data plan while in the UK. The plan is limited to 20 MB of data. Also, I don't plan to use my IPhone to make phone calls while there. Just access the web to navigate around. [more inside]
