Sketching Apps for graphic pieces?

Recommendations for sketching apps like Penultimate? I use Penultimate on my iPad to sketch cartoon-ish stuff. I like Penultimate because it has nice graphic lines and a super-easy interface. I also like it because it allows me to sketch over a photograph and then cut and paste the sketch (and not the photograph). I don't like it because it has a limited palette and no zooming options.

I have tried Sketchbook Express and Art Set, but both require some level of technical knowledge I don't want/possess. Sketchbook Express works somewhat like Adobe Illustrator, which is far far out of my wheelhouse, and Art Set doesn't have the thick graphic lines I prefer. All I want is the basic Penultimate setup with more colors and more zooming. Is there an app that will do this for me? I don't mind spending money on something that works, but free/cheap is better in the deciding stages.

Apps for an apple flavoured snowflake?

Friends, mefites, global citizens, recommend me your apps for the iPad. Yay, bought a new iPad today, with keyboard and cover. Already have the stylus I use with my iPhone. Not an experienced apple user. What I want are
* drawing (and painting) programs that produce vectors (by preference) or jpgs at worse.
* PDF reading and annotating software
* cat amusement stuff
* GTD or other organisational technique sort of thingies, ideally that interface with gmail.
* converts handwritten notes to text

Any other suggestions of apps you can't live with now that you have them. Areas of interest include academia, study, art, organisation, single girl life.

Please only recommend ones you've tried - I have bought apps for my iphone and been disappointed that it doesn't do what it says it will (on or off the tin).

I Want to Draw Stuff

What is the coolest iPad drawing app(s)? I got one of these for Christmas and would like to give is a spin. I have another stylus as well for fine point stuff.

I would like to be able to save and resume later and send myself drawings.

Bonus if there is a mac version as well, but not required.

Drawing on the iPad

Drawing with the iPad - tips, tricks, guides, and recommendations? Recently, I've taken to doodling on my iPad using the SketchbookPro App and a Griffin stylus. However, my artistic skill is most kindly described as "developing" and I'd like to find some guides to drawing that work well for new iPad artist.

Cursory Googling shows many demos of how different apps work and how to draw on them, but they seem more geared for people who can draw to begin with. Me, I'm sub-Liefeld when it comes to feet and my hands either look like horrible spiders or hams.

Are there any decent guides out there for the beginner, preferably focused on comic-style figures? What about apps or tools beyond Sketchbook Pro and the Griffin stylus?

Also, any hints or tips for drawing comic/superhero/cartoon style characters would be appreciated. I have most of the classics of comic drawing, and a lot of the other books out there are a bit... uh... 90s for me.

Brainstorming the creative potential of a certain device.

Making the most out of an iPad for creative/business use-- help me see its true potential. Okay, so long story short I am thinking about an iPad. I'm an illustrator and really like the idea of having a portable morgue file (probably set up through a private Flickr photoset) and eventually some form of on the go portfolio (maybe something as simple as just using my website? I haven't seen mine on an iPad to know how it works/looks--maybe you can tell me.) to share with people and network that way. I also like the idea of having portable image reference through the web. (I tend to refer to a lot of printouts and book reference) But what else might be useful with this device? Drawing seems okay, but not professional quality use which is totally okay with me. I'm sure there's more I'm not thinking of.

So for someone who'd rather use it as a business/creative device first and a media-consumption device second, how could you see an iPad being used? Even if it's not in existence yet as an app, I'm curious. I know the true limitations of this thing are dependent on what developers can make, but hey maybe a good idea will lead me to try and collaborate with someone to develop one myself. (Or spur someone else on)

Bonus question: for someone who will be living in Portland, OR and may do some business travelling/wanting to share their work on the go, would 3G make better sense than just wi-fi? And given the needs I've outlined, could I make do with the cheapest storage space or is that really a small amount of GB? I really doubt I'll be downloading music or movies on the thing. Could the cloud help me out?

Thanks!
