Mr. DeludingMyself is turning 30 in September, and isn't entirely pleased with the idea. I know I can't stop him from being upset about the big 3-0, but I want to come up with something to make the day itself awesome.

I'm being romanced by a wonderful man. Problem is, he's a super-social extrovert, and I am your classic introvert who needs lots of alone time. Communication is good about this, but I am worried that I am somehow "holding him back".

I am a happy introvert between the horns of what must be a common dilemma, yet I have not seen a clear answer to it: What do I say when my SO or best friend or cousin invites me to do something and I would very clearly rather just stay home and read?

One bachelorette party, ten miscellaneous female guests, one extremely introverted organizer (that's me!). Activities are set, but what little things can I do (or how should I behave) to keep things cohesive and lively, instead of awkward or lame?

Where do you go and where do you live?
I currently live in West Lakeview and after the daily hustle/bustle that is working in the Loop, I find myself needing to unwind.
I like the idea of book stores and coffee shops but the only ones I know around me are the standard Borders/B&N and Starbucks and those are usually busy.

I'm a male introvert with very, very few close friends. I can make casual friends no problem, but I'm rather particular about the type of people I'd want to be serious friends with. Difficulty: I'm an atheist liberal eco-friendly vegetarian tech nerd who doesn't drink, smoke, or do drugs.

Pretty soon I’ll be going out of town to visit a good friend, and said friend has just invited me to the Xmas party with the folks she works with since it’ll be held while I’m out there. Problem is, they’re very cool and I’m very NOT. We’ve met before and I’m pretty sure most of them think of me as my friend’s dweeby, awkward, strange pal. This only compounds my anxiety and will likely make me act even MORE dweeby, awkward, & strange this time around. Please help me with damage control!

What careers would suit an introverted but intelligent person?
I am working through several careers books but have difficulties settling on careers to research further. I have social anxiety as do most of my friends (met through self help sites) and we are mostly in the same boat. Everyone seems to be looking for extroverted types, where do we introverts succeed?

First date: I'm going to call the nice young lady I met during jury duty and I have a couple dating questions. I like to think I'm nice but I'm not flirtatious or otherwise outgoing. I think I'll come across as uninterested on the date (and I'm afraid that I already have in our previous contact).
