Employment scam or legit invite?

I've been job searching for the past couple of months. Some online listings compel you to apply for them through a recruiter site. I try to avoid doing this, because I've been spammed as a result by sites like Careerbuilder.com who apparently don't vet their partners very well. [more inside]

Help me pick my baby doctor!

I'm currently 31 weeks pregnant, and this afternoon I'm heading into a "meet and greet" with a new pediatrician at a practice affiliated with the big multi-specialty doctor group in my town. At this point, we're thinking it's pretty likely that we'll either go with the pediatrics group or with the family practice group where my PCP practices, and I had set up this meet and greet to help try to make that decision. However, it's now 5 hours until we head over and I have no clue what to ask this doctor to help us make a decision. I am sure others have probably gone through this before--so help me figure out what to ask! [more inside]

Guest chit chat for radio

I host a local radio show of, well, local music. We've had several bands come in and play, which is cool, and I think I've developed a pretty good tool box of interview questions and conversational pieces for that situation, there all all sorts of good/eh/bad lists of questions to ask musicians about their music, but now we want to expand it a bit and occasionally have local musicians/celebs come in and pick out the play list as a guest/co DJ. Outside of the pretty generic "Well jim-bob why did you pick THAT song?" could you help me develop good conversation starters/questions for this situation?

Job Interview: Do I tell them why I want a new job?

I have a job interview this Friday. It is in a city 90 minutes from where I currently live, and 30 minutes from where my wife currently lives. Looking at my resume, it's obvious I'm having a good career at my current place of work, steadily getting promotions and increased responsibility. If I was an interviewer, it would be in the back of my mind, "Why's this guy looking for a new job? Problems where he is now?" I know they can't ask about my personal life and reasons for relocating, but does anyone think it would be weird to tell them I'm applying for this job because I want to live in the same city as my wife? Of course, I'd also tell them I'm applying for the job because of the skills and value I can bring to the organization, my prior experience gives a unique perspective from both sides of the desk, etc. etc. [more inside]

How to express interest in a job after the first interview?

Last week I interviewed for a job that, after the interview, I decided I really want. The interview went well in that I got out everything I wanted to get out. The moment I got home I wrote thank you emails. They said they'd be in touch in 7 to 10 days. This is day 7. Would it be appropriate to write again to express my interest in the position or, as I suspect, am I just being impatient, if not needy? I've read in these posts and elsewhere that a huge mistake job seekers make is not outright asking for the job. In my thank you emails, I wrote that I thought my skills were a perfect match for the position, that I could easily fit into the culture, and that I was very interested in the position. So, write again, or would that just be gilding the lily? Thanks.

sent wrong copy of my resume

I applied to this job online by sending my resume, and after I was contacted by the HR lady, I told her that I had an updated version of my resume and so I sent it to her. A few days later, I then realized that I actually sent a wrong copy of my resume, which leaves off some of my education. It also erroneously outlined a job function that I did not actually do. The reason why it is wrong is because I didn't know how to word it precisely at first, but after a second draft (the correct version) I came up with a better description of what I did. So, do you guys think it will be fine if I email her the correct version of my resume and explain that I inadvertently sent her the wrong version? Or will it look bad? The interview is already set up by the way. Thanks.

How do I say "Psst...I'm still available for that 9-to-5..."?

I interviewed for this position over a month ago, and it went really well. According to a family friend who also works there (and informed me of the available position to begin with), I was a top contender for the job, but they ultimately went with another person with experience, whereas I had none (even though it was entry level - but I get it, experience is better than lack thereof. No hard feelings here). PLOT TWIST: Two days ago, I find out via friend that they just discovered this new person lied about having a degree, so she's as good as gone. Friend suggested I send a nonchalant email to remind them of my existence, hinting at the fact that I'm still available. How do I do this subtly without it sounding awkward as hell after over a month? I don't think I'm supposed to know about this turn of events because friend was pretty hush hush about it, and I certainly don't want to throw friend under the bus or get him in trouble. Looking for a specific Tarantino quote

Quentin Tarantino, in an interview, said something along the lines of, "The medium that I work in is the audience's emotions."
