I'm a 21 year old Canadian university student. I have 6 months free come January and I want to do an internship abroad. I love advertising and marketing. Multinationals are fun, so are random countries. Any tips or opportunities?

How does one go about asking an organization/company who has nothing advertised if they need any help? This would be unpaid.
As I transition to another career (in this case, Urban Planning), I'm trying to get more experience and be productive at the same time. I'd like to volunteer/intern (whatever is the difference?) at firms or organizations that deal with that sort of thing (I can make that list). I think in my resume/e-mail I can explain my transferable skills (IT background).
I'm doing this as I'll be attending graduate school in a year and would like to be productive outside of test prep and applications.
Looking for tips on who to contact, if e-mail is the best way, and how to structure the communication.

I am a college student going to school in Manhattan, and I'm looking for an internship for this coming spring semester. I am a third year political science major with interests in technology, development, and journalism. At the moment I am studying and travelling abroad in India and Nepal, and I've gotten pretty much fluent in Nepali. Does anyone know of a cool New York based NGO that might have use for someone who knows Nepali language? General advice on finding NGOs in the New York area to intern for is also appreciated.

I want to become an investment banker, badly. After finding out as much as I can about what i-banking actually is, the more I want to do it. There's a short list of about 5-10 "top 40" institutions that I think make a good match in what kind of culture I want, what I'm looking for in a company. I'm a senior (err, graduate a semester early in December). The problem is I'm at a non-top tier college.

[Internship filter] Any ideas for a summer internship for a college student? Here are her stats: not a U.S. citizen, but can work in the U.S.; native speaker of Russian and Turkmen, fluent speaker of English and Turkish, moderate speaker of Spanish; business major; very personable; college sophomore. Paid internship would be best, but any place that could lead to a future job would be good.

I'm going to be working in Schaumburg, IL this summer - should I take the company provided housing (at $750 a month)? I'd rather be near an L line for easy city access, but then I have to figure out how to reverse commute. Where should I live in the Chicago metro area, and how should I get to work each day?
