I'm a post-bacc pre-med student, and I'm trying to find a research position (paid, unpaid, whatever) for this summer so I can start to get some research experience. My school's listings for research positions in medicine-related fields (or even basic science) are really not useful, nor is the pre-med advising office. Where can I find listings for such positions? Who else should I talk to?

I am looking for an internship with the United Nations, or a UN agency (UNDP, UNAIDS, UNESCO, UNICEF etc) in sub-Saharan Africa for a period of 10-20 weeks from September 2012. I have tried emailing application forms to country offices, with my CV and cover letter, but no luck with responses. Any tips or tricks or other help that you can provide? Thanks!

I was approached by a teacher of mine, who says a friend of a friend is looking for a graphic artist, and he thinks I'm more than capable and wants to give me the opportunity to try and get some professional work into my portfolio. I'm a freshman, and have no idea how to navigate this situation, or what to expect. Help?

Internship filter: I've recently started a several-month internship. There is really no work for me yet-- I've been told that in the next few weeks, it will pick up, but as of now I'm basically being given busy-work that doesn't need to be done. How can I deal with this situation? Can I leave for a better job?

I've received a linkedin invitation from someone I have never met and have a dubious connection with. I'm relatively new to linkedin myself, so I'm not sure of the etiquette in this situation.

Hi there,
I'm currently a first-year Political Science major with a pre-law focus, and am very involved in my school's Mock Trial and pre-law fraternity.
I've always wanted to work for
The Innocence Project, and that's still my goal after graduation. On the
internship page, it says, "We encourage using the internship to gain course credit and to seek “work-study” grants with your educational institution, if that is an option."
How do I go about this?

I am looking for a local non-profit in D.C., Chicago, Boston, or NYC that would be willing to work with me on a research project that my university will hopefully fund. Any help would be appreciated.
