My company's website is having a bizarre experience: our links have stopped working, suddenly, in IE8 only. They focus but don't trigger the target URL to open. Naturally, most of our clients use IE8. No changes have been made recently. The site is DNN-based, and we've opened a support ticket with DotNetNuke, but I'm stumped. What should I be looking at?
Memail me if seeing the site would be helpful and I can give you the URL.

I've got some JavaScript I want to turn into an extension (plug-in?) so it will always run for certain webpages for Internet Explorer, but because I've been using Chrome/Firefox for years, I don't know what search terms to use. Do you know of a simple how to resource? Grease monkey like alternatives aren't an option for me.

A colleague is finding that a page on a server that includes a SWF can load smoothly and be viewed in its entirety, but it generates a JavaScript error message whenever that page is unloaded, but only in IE7 and IE8. (Line 1, Char 1, "Access is denied", Code 0, URL=SWF file name). Firefox 3.6 and IE6 have no problems at all. For some reason, the page has been designed to load the SWF directly into an iframe's src attribute instead of using the usual OBJECT and EMBED tags and associated parameters within a separate HTML page. Is this unloading problem simply IE7 and IE8 being extra-vigilant about security with non-standard code?

I have a cheapo IP WiFi webcam, its video & audio feed is viewed via an ActiveX plugin in IE. I want to access theses feeds in Linux. I was wondering if there was some tool I could use in Win XP to monitor the network traffic on my PC when using IE to access the webcam, to get the full URLs to the audio and video feeds. All the tools I have used so far just give me the IP address and port, not the full http address.

I just reformatted an XP laptop and installed Service Pack 3. I don't use Internet Explorer for browsing - do I need to upgrade to IE7/8 anyway, just for in-built security? Or can I safely leave it at 6 if I don't use it to browse?
Apologies if this question seems really, really dumb.

My company forces the use of Internet Explorer for a number of internal sites. Now, they're also enforcing the use of an old version of Java (1.4.2_06) instead of just warning you. The trouble is I have Java 6 installed and despite also having 1.4.2_06 installed, IE 7 refuses to use it.

I have a web site using Wordpress and I'm trying to figure out a css problem with IE. The first thing I'm doing is creating a seperate IE stylesheet. I've followed all the instructions found in the Wordpress forums but can't seem to get IE to pick up the new stylesheet. (I've already asked this question there but haven't gotten back anything that worked.)
Here's what I've added to my header.php *below* the call to the regular style.css:
Here's my code:
<!--[if IE]>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('template_directory'); ?>/style-ie.css" type="text/css" />
<![endif]-->
I know that IE is picking up the if-then, because I added a random text string in there and IE showed it. The way I'm testing whether or not IE is getting the style-ie.css sheet is by changing the color of the menu bar from orange (non-IE) to white (IE). I've also tried hardcoding the path to the other css sheet and that didn't help.
I'm at my wits end. What am I doing wrong?
