Easiest way to produce a web image gallery

I have been using 2 methods to generate my web galleries: Picasa to Blogger.com or the web gallery tool within PhotoShop 8cs. The Picasa is nice, but displaying the images in blogger sucks- the images are all in one VERY long column. Photoshop's templates suck, and the resize has limitations on size. Is there an easier way to take my full res images, resize them, enter description, then publish to a html table format?

How to report offensive people

I have an 11 year old son who is active in a couple of Yu-Gi-Oh message boards. There are a group of people who frequent these places and post inappropriate web links on occasion. One time, someone posted a porn site disguised as a harmless link. Doing that seems like there is a some kind of law being broken yet I did not know where to turn to report it (yeah, like going to the city police will really help...pppthhh). Another time, someone posted this link (this just can't be legal): http://www.bonsaikitten.com/ My kid was very upset about the bonzai kitty thing and the porn. I want to be able to do something about this but do not know what, where, how. I am wondering if there is an online mechanism to turn to. These Yu-Gi-Oh sites are otherwise great for my kid and I do not want to restrict his access just because of a few perv's and/or freaks.

Too many answers?

When I have a question, I ask it. Simple enough, right? Are there any psychological/educational repercussions to having endless access to information? Are we becoming less intelligent because we are not seeking answers for ourselves, and instead relying on the vast database of knowledge on the Internet to answer questions that could be better answered via actual physical reasoning? It seems that I remember there being a "term" for this phenomenon - if it actually exists. Any help? [more inside]

When Finder goes insane

I'm minding my own business when my Panther 10.3 Finder stops behaving on my Mac. It now takes many times longer to load and won't connect to the Internet, not even with a Comcast wizard. I have this vague understanding that I'm supposed to wipe out Finder prefs. Is this right? Is it crazy to think the Finder bug is relevant to the sudden lack of connectivity? [more inside]

Why is MCI siding with the ISPs in Brand X

Moooved to ask

Anybody have a clue what's going on at BovineUnite.com? Billboards started showing up here in the Baltimore area a week or so ago. The site is registered locally, but the execution of the site seems too good to be just some local prank. So far, the only Google reference to the site is a Craigslist ad looking for people to travel around Maryland wearing the cowsuit. What are they advertising? Skim milk? Chick-Fil-A?

"chmod 755 ." means?

ecommerce software directions say: "chmod 644 etc/config.php chmod 755 ." I set set chmod 644 for the first folder. What is "."? In other words, how do I "chmod 755 ." from above? This is ecommerce software, so permissions probably are more important than usual. I just had a hard time finding what the "." refers to when googling.

Why is Bittorrent killing my webpages?

I run bittorrent (for legal files only, of course), but when I do, it tends to kill my web browsing ability. Most of the time when running bittorrent webpages will timeout. How to publicize a useful experience anonymously?

Let's say you've had an experience and written about it. And let's say it's something others on the internet might want to know about. And let's say you have it saved as a simple html doc and would like to get it out there, accessible via Google, etc. And let's say you'd like perfect anonymity. What can you do to get it out there and indexed but not traceable? Free? Anonymous? Publish and forget? Obviously, this is about battling spammers at some point. Advice?

None of my browsers will access these two specific sites any more. They're not listed in HOSTS and I have no spyware.

I cannot access lclark.edu or cihost.com. It just doesn't work. Other websites work fine, my hosts file contains nothing that would cause this, I have no blocking software, I have no spyware, and these two web sites are not down.

I have been able to access both in the past, but for whatever reason they just stopped working. Ideas? I'm running Mozilla 1.7.1 on Windows XP SP2, but I have the same problem with Internet Explorer.

Which laptop is the best for multi-track audio editing?

Laptops (again). I want to buy one. Specifically, I want to know which laptop is the best for multi-track audio editing (and why). Aditionally, which software should I use if I want to create stories "pro" enough for radio journalism? Do I have to get pricey studio stuff? Finally, when people out there submit already-produced audio stories to say BBC, NPR, PRI, Pacifica . . . is there a simple way to send the files via email? What kind of file would it have to be?

I have 6 computers to play FPS games; what bandwidth do I need to connect all to the internet at good game-playing speeds?

I have a room with six computers, each with a copy of a few new FPS games. I want to play deathmatches, etc. (using all 6 computers) with people outside the room. What is the minimum recommended bandwidth to connect this room to the internets in order to maintain a high quality gaming experience? Does it matter how many people outside the room are playing or is the amount of data being passed in and out of the room fairly consistent regardless of whether there are, say 6 or 18 people playing outside the room?

Super bonus points for estimated monthly bandwidth costs at a commercial location in the DC metro area.
