Does Tor render other apps "anonymous"?

Anonymity-online-filter: When using something like TOR (http://tor.eff.org/) to be "anonymous" online you modify browser settings; but there are many apps other than browsers that access the internet (Bittorrent, antivirus, etc.). Does TOR take care of these apps as well? Why, why not, etc.?

Pageless in Podunk

Particular web pages won't load for me -- nothing exotic, normal stuff like the Washington Post, certain pages at Amazon. The WaPo site just loads the logo bar at the top and then stops dead. Worst part is that it doesn't matter what browser or OS I'm using. What's going on? [more inside]

Flaky internet connection.

My internet connection is flaky. When I load say MeFi, MeTa & Ask MeFi in three tabs together, only 2 of the 3 will load, the 3rd one will be a “Server not found” message. I’ll be able to download something or IM but be unable to load Google, etc. I don’t know what is wrong or how to fix it. Any ideas?

Network tech support brain-twister

Riddle me this: there are two Windows XP computers (desktop and laptop) on the same Internet connection, behind the same router, connecting wirelessly to it. Internet connection monitor

Is there a simple app out there that will monitor when my Internet connection goes up and down? I've seen dozens of utilities out there that monitor a specific website, but I figure these utilities might just error out if my own connection is down. Besides I should be monitoring 2 or 3 sites rather than just one to get a true measure of whether the Internet is down.
