Why won't my browser open from links embedded in programs? When I click on links to the web (e.g. "check for updates") in, say, Skype chat, or Zone Alarm, or CCleaner, or DeepBurner nothing happens -- no browser or tab pops open to the corresponding site. Firefox is my default browser and works fine on its own.... Thoughts or suggestions?
Earthlink charges me 10$ a month extra to use more than one computer on my connection, on top of the 42$ a month I normally pay. I don't want to pay this. [more inside]
Where can I find "low-tech" jobs online? We just had a baby and so my wife has to stay at home and take care of him. However, she still has some free time and she would like to do some stuff from home. She's a medical doctor with a bit of IT experience (mostly as a user, though). So I was thinking to find her some work online, maybe entering some data or as a translator (she speaks English and German, German is her mother-tongue) or maybe other "low-tech" jobs like this... So do you have any idea where can I find such jobs? Thanks!
I spend most of my work day listening to interview and essay type radio shows on the internet. My favorite, of course, is This American Life. I also love Fresh Air . I've checked out Radio 4 a little, and sometimes I listen to Democracy Now and even more rarely Air America. Keeping in mind what I already like, what else would you recommend I listen to? There are a lot of buzzwords being bandied about regarding the 'viral' 'grassroots' ways that 'Internet 2.0' can be used to 'create a groundswell' through 'guerilla marketing'. What? What do these buzzwords actually mean? After getting vague advice like 'use MySpace' by people with marketing degrees who don't use the internet to market anything, I am interested in cutting through the crap by hearing from real people with actual experience in these matters. How can the Internet be used to promote a site with interactive stuff, games and short film... and little-to-no budget for marketing?

Sometimes graphics are not displayed when I'm online. Graphics *are* turned on and generally *do* display--that's why I'm confused. I'm not talking about unusual graphics, odd graphics formats, I'm talking about regular GIFs or JPGs. I use Internet Explorer version 6, if that helps. I would appreciate any/all tips! Thank you.

While I was using Spybot Search and Destroy, the computer became very slow. I rebooted using the hardware button, and since then whenever an application tries to use the internet (IE, Firefox, MSN Messenger etc) the application crashes, saying the application needs to close as an error occurs. Even the Windows Genuine Workaround app crashes! When not using the internet, everything works fine. How can I fix this?

Bloglines isn't showing my feeds anymore! I'm using the most updated version of Firefox, and haven't installed any new extensions, but my "feeds" tab no longer shows any feeds! This started happening last night. It shows the "Add, Edit, Clippings" and the "Extras" down below - but no actual feeds. I double checked in the "Edit" option to make sure my feeds were there. I disabled all my extensions. I updated Java. I even searched MeFi and the painfully slow Bloglines forum, but can't seem to figure out why my feeds are missing all of a sudden. I checked in Internet Explorer, and Bloglines is working - I even checked it on my wife's computer running Firefox, and my feed show up. What could possibly be wrong on my machine that their feed tree doesn't show up on my Firefox?
Forced for the summer to access the Internet through dial-up I wonder what the least expensive, least annoying, fastest option. I currently use NetZero which is free (three months which are almost up), fairly fast, but very annoying with video ads and hijacking my preferred browser i.e. making IE my preferred bowser every time I dial-up. I've used AOL in the past but find it very, very annoying. Any recommendations?
