I have an iMac using Snow Leopard. I use my apartment public w-fi and it has worked fine up to a few months back. It started dropping wi-fi no matter where the Mac was positioned in the apartment while my PC and a few other tablets worked fine consistently (tried them at times when the Mac stopped to a several minute crawl or gave me message of no connection).

I have public wi-fi at my new apartment, and am able to stream Netflix just fine via a friend's laptop. I am not sure if there is a way for my Apple TV (2nd gen) to work here. I have googled around and others seemed to be able and others not. Normally when using my home computer or kindle tablet, I have to connect to wi-fi after a given period of time left unattended and then click "connect" from a browser page so perhaps this is why the ATV2 cannot work. Any thoughts?
Thanks and have a good Thanksgiving!

While on Firefox (12.0) for my Mac (OS 10.5.8) I hit a mail link which caused my Firefox window to open rapidly window on window ad infinitum. It locked up my mac and I couldn't even get to Firefox Preferences/Tools etc without multiple windows opening on top. I force- quit. I restarted and this did not help. I uninstalled an reinstalled and this did not help. It hit about midnight and stupid and tired, I deleted my entire profile....The whole blasted thing in a rash moment.
So unlike available articles on Mozilla for retrieving missing/lost/messed with profiles mine is simply bye-bye by my own hand. I emailed Mozilla and got these instructions:
"Try to delete the profiles.ini file
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/profiles.ini_file
*http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox"
I don't have the ini file in the locations specified nor elsewhere.
This link did not seem to help, either. I tried entering a terminal command for Firefox (cannot find page for that now) and no luck. If I click on Firefox, it says "Firefox is already open, only one copy can be in use." (Nothing else is open and I even restarted the computer a few times.)
Any ideas? I like Firefox the best and would like to use it. And yes, I was an idiot to delete things so will take appropriate lashings.

I am trying to figure out how to get to
this timeline part of Google (in this example, it is following the space program) from the Google main page. I originally got this page from a previous mefite's cool post about history of rock and roll and plugged in my own terms. I tried getting to this point from the homepage....when I type in "Google Timeline" it gives me a timeline to search newspapers. If anyone has wisdom, let me know. I really like this tool but want to explain to others how to get to this page rather than have them plug and play from my link. Thanks!

I work as a librarian and am on desk for 25 hours a week. I spend much of it on library sites but am interested in sites you find as interesting reads whatever they might be. Anything decent for the workplace. And I know interesting is subjective...I'm all ears!

Is there any free or cheap service where I can store all my passwords, uh, online? Is this a reasonable question or am I being foolish? I have all my passwords in a Word document but don't like carrying them on my usb as a)I lose it. Is there such a site for security that I can encrypt this tiny but precious document?

Is there any free software to capture audio broadcasts from the internet? I am a novice. I am not sure how to go about it. There are a few sites that will play through real audio but i would like to capture a file in a format such as mp3 to my desktop that I can burn to disc to listen in my car. Sorry for the lack of technical terms. I am new to trying to do this and am not sure where to look or how to do it. I run an IMac with OS 10.5.2...Thanks for your time!
