I'm looking for 'Folk' Web Cultures. I am thinking of the recent take-down of Geocities, which seemed to refresh people's love of the naff, kitsch aesthetic it was famous for, as a prime example. What are some other folk cultures still lingering in the dark corners of the web?

The way I research (academic or otherwise) is increasingly incompatible with the tools I have. Reams of handwritten notebooks, and hundreds of word docs vs a highly tagged website only add to my self-created confusion.
I'm drawn to Tinderbox software as a possible solution, but as an adamant PC user I'm locked out.
How do you order your research? / How to write-up my PhD now my brain is fried?

Hacking around sound cancellation on Google+ and Skype: Two tier question here about a related problem. Firstly, a way to sidetrack the software audio limits of a Google+ Hangout. Secondly, a way to stop Skype from cancelling out audio from one half of a conversation.

I'm looking for examples of websites that have successfully enhanced a research community (academic or artistic) with a dynamic online/social/mutual-portfolio presence. Blog and social media based hubs, perhaps, that showcase the possibilities of web portfolio/research integration for
academic and
creative purposes.

I'm writing a paper on (animated) GIFs and am trying to track down some of the most (in)famous. I suppose I am talking memes, but I'm more interested in the GIF as an archaeological reference point. I frequent sites like
dump.fm,
tumblr etc. so am quite tuned in to the glitchy/kitschy side of GIF culture. How theoretical have people got on these wonders of the web? How does one trace the history of an animated GIF?

I am looking for online magazines to submit art/literature/experimental/fun articles to. I think '
The Believer' magazine is a good example of the type I crave. UK based would be best, but not completely necessary.

I would like to automatically generate hypertext links from a list of text. Ideally this would mean pasting a series of comma separated words into some online tool and having the system turn each word into a relevant google/wikipedia link... Does anyone know any sites/tools that will do this?

I have been using
reblog to combine two feeds (for a
blog and a
forum) which I then publish through Feedburner. What I want to do is have the
blog part of my feed update normally (i.e. individual posts) and the
forum part of my feed compiled into a daily link list (which itself is published as if it were ONE feed post each day)... What ways exist for me to do this?
