I'm moving. I want to keep using Comcast/Xfinity for TV/internet but I want to save money and/or upgrade my service. How do I do this? [more inside]
A few days ago I got high-speed internet from Comcast. When I placed the order, I was told I needed to upgrade my router and wireless to new models, specifically a TP-Link Wireless N300
and the Motorola SB6121 Surfboard
My internet speed is lower than ever. [more inside]
I've been having a lot of problems with my Comcast cable internet (both performance, and with their service, but this question focuses on performance) over the past few weeks. Is this really caused by a bad cable modem? Many details inside. [more inside]
I'm trying to set up internet service at my apartment. AT&T's downstream is abysmally bad for what they charge – 3 mbps for a lousy $30 per month. Comcast is better, but possibly more evil, and there are a lot of confusing legal riders in the contract that make me scared. Help! [more inside]
For the past 5 years I've used LinkSys BEFSR41 (version 4) router and generally haven't had too many issues but for the past 6 months its been pretty hellish as I have intermittent dropped connection and LinkSys says that this model is no longer supported and has no active firmware upgrades.
My household has 3 computers hard-wired and connect at all times. One of them is hooked up to online tv streaming so you could say the internet is always 'on' here. [more inside]
Four days ago, my Comcast cable internet service began slowing down in the evenings. I know this is normal behavior for cable service, since bandwidth is shared within communities. However, my usual 25 Mbps has slowed to somewhere between 1 and 4 Mbps after 5 PM, with the occasional 20 (very rare). I've seen it as low as 300 Kbps. I checked last night at 2 AM and it was clocking in at 50, which is what I pay for. What can I do? [more inside]
After an internet outage (now resolved) Comcast customer service recommended that we update our 8 year old cable modem (Thompson DCM-425) to a new wireless router/modem combo. I'm trying to figure out if this will really be an upgrade or more of a "well the wireless would be faster, if it were still working" sort of situation? [more inside]
Ok, theoretically simple question that I can't find a simple answer to:
I'm currently a Comcast customer subscribed to low-tier tv and internet. I'd like to drop my tv service and replace it with an antenna for OTA channels and a higher internet tier for streaming and general internet'ing (Comcast is my only real internet option, so I won't be dropping them entirely).
I need advice as to how to get the best possible rate for the internet service. Details below the fold. [more inside]
Does anyone have the new Comcast X2 box? Can you let me know what you think of it? Is it slow as dirt? Can you forward through commercials on recorded shows with ease? Can you access content easily? Do you prefer it to their previous DVR box?

Qwest or Comcast internet? (especially in Denver) [more inside]
I currently have Comcast High Speed internet. I have two additional IP addresses assigned to my account, which they charge me monthly for. Is this necessary, i.e., if I had the that option taken off my bill would only one of my home computers be able to connect to the internet, vs the four that currently do with the Comcast option for only two additional licenses (which means only three total should be able to connect)?
If it matters, the cable modem is connected to a wireless router (Apple Express) and all the home computers are Macintoshes.
