Ok here's my deal. I graduated with a degree in PolySci 5 years ago and have since worked in sales in the corporate sector. About a year ago I came to the conclusion that this wasn't for me long term, began volunteering in international development locally (and really enjoyed it) and started the process of applying to graduate programs in International Relations this past fall. I've been accepted to my top choices (average schools, not Tufts, Harvard etc) and I am sitting here looking at my acceptance letters and having a bit of a tough time deciding whether to go or not... the overall student loan debt that I'd face (of $50K max) is scaring me...should money make the decision for me?

Ok, here's my story. I'm in my mid 20's and I reside in the Boston, MA area. Since college I've worked in the corporate world, currently selling advertising. As of late, I've been considering some major career changes, mainly pursuing a career in international relations.I've even looked into grad schools for next fall as M.A's are often pre-requisites in this field.
Has anyone undergone a similar career change? Or any career change at all? If so, any advice would be appreciated.

Amy Chua's book "World On Fire: How Exporting Free Market Democracy Breeds Ethnic Hatred and Global Instability"discusses how ethnic minorities in many developing countries dominate the country economically. (The Chinese in many southeast Asian countries, whites in parts of Africa, etc)
Do any other MeFites know of other books or resources that discuss this phenomenon? (which undoubtely will only become more prevalaent as the world globalizes)

Okay. So I was discussing the politics of the sub-continent with a friend of mine from New Delhi... and the issue of Kashmir came up. I know a little bit about the situation (more than he expected by any stretch of the imagination), but I didn't feel really capable of having a serious discussion on the matter.
So here's my question: does anyone have background on the matter? Are there any reputable sources? Has any consensus been reached by parties outside the conflict?
This was all stirred by my friend's comment that the Kashmiris want Indian statehood — and that this is really just a land grab by the Pakistani government. Sounded pretty one-sided, so any light on the matter would be appreciated.
