Are there better alternatives to flickr for sharing photos with a large group of international people? I'm trying to come up with an easy way to have access from the US to people's photos from abroad -- particularly the Mid East, Philippines, South Africa, and Argentina -- without having to e-mail multiple attachments or send photo CDs through the mail. Hello, I'm wanting to get iPhone (or use my Blackberry Worldphone) in Korea and other countries; however, I do not know the best way to do this. From my understanding I would likely have to buy an unlocked phone and then get hooked up with a carrier on a pay-as-I-go plan or something? What do most nomads do for phones besides things like Skype?

In January, I'm leaving the US for Europe, where I'll be for the next six months, if not more. I want to buy an E-reader, so I can continue to read books in English, and also to save myself from lugging books back and forth. Given the circumstances, seems to me the best choice is to buy a Kindle 2 right now. Am I right? [more inside]

I am an international student going to college in the US (one of the top ten schools, but not need blind to internationals). I have not applied for a scholarship when I was first admitted, because I knew that it decreased my chances and the exchange rate was relatively comparable. Then, things went downhill; my aunt who was helping my parents pay the tuition lost her job, the exchange rate went up from 1.21 to 1.85 and that is the story. I am looking for a form of scholarship, be it need-based or merit based. How? [more inside]

I will be living in Mumbai for 11 weeks next summer. I have an unlocked iPhone 3G. What is my best bet in terms of carrier and plan for the cheapest and most reliable data access? I plan to do local calls over the cell phone voice network and international calls via Skype on the iPhone.
Thanks in advance!

I'm going to Vancouver next month. My Sprint phone won't be of any use to me there. When I went to Toronto last year, I was able to make exorbitantly expensive phone calls and I wasn't able to access the internet or use google maps.
I'd like to do all of those things economically.
I still have my old Treo 75?wx. Perhaps that could be of some use? Thank you.

I'm in the UK and want to download a free app that is only available through the US iTunes/App Store. I have memberships of both the UK and US iTunes stores, but unfortunately the credit card on my US account has expired. When it comes to the point at which I download the app (on either the computer or the phone) it asks for an updated credit card. If I could convince someone to "lend" me their iTunes login details for a short while, even if there was no money on their card, would this work? Anyone tried this or willing to help?

My father, a physician, is going on an European cruise through Denmark, Russia, Finland, Estonia, Norway, Sweden, and Georgia. He needs a cell phone plan that will allow him to call his patients here in the U.S. from each of those countries.
He will be on this trip for roughly two weeks. He is more concerned about connectivity in each country, rather than price. What would be his best option?

I am not a citizen or resident of the US, but I've been offered the opportunity to do some freelance work for a US-based company. The work will be done entirely in my country, without ever visiting the US, but as far as I can tell they will be paying me directly from their home office in the US (not via a subsidiary in my country). Under these circumstances, would the IRS be expecting some sort of filing from me relating to this when the next US tax deadline comes around?
