ROCK ME AMADEUS

What are some of the loudest, heaviest, most rocking and head-banging classical pieces out there? I'm looking for some heavy classical music that's powerful and driving and has a lot of hits and explosions of sound. Something like the first part of Beethoven's 5th or Verdi's Requiem (Dies irae). Carl Orff's O Fortuna kind of fits, but isn't quite as fast or driving as I'd like, though it is pretty epic in it's own right, so I'll also take suggestions like that. I'm down with opera too, though I would prefer straight instrumental pieces.

Looking for high-intensity, low-impact, portable exercise.

I want a high intensity, low-impact workout that I can do every single day, indoors, with minimal space requirements. Jumping rope in my apartment lobby is absolutely perfect except that my feet and knees can't do it daily. Fifteen minutes of high-intensity exercise wakes me up in the morning and gives me a boost for the entire day, so I'd like to do it everyday. However, this seems to cause understandable wear and tear on my body. I have limited space and a low-ceiling in my apartment. Cheap, folding exercise bikes appear to break pretty quick if you use them every day. Expensive exercise bikes are too expensive and I wouldn't look forward to moving one when my lease is up.

I am considering purchasing one of those mini-exercise bikes that's just pedals and resistance. Then I could use either my feet or my arms.

Maybe I just need to condition my feet and knees over time for the jump rope. But, I have flat feet so there may be significant structural issues. I am looking into better shoes and getting a rubberized mat.

Maybe there's something super easy that I'm missing. I don't mind a learning curve, so it can be pretty weird as long as it doesn't put undue wear and tear on the body.

How can I be less into him?

Normally, I'm a rather shy reserved person. So why is it when I find a new friend, I get all "intense"....? I'm really comfortable being on my own. I love going to museums, art galleries and such. I read a lot. I have literally one friend, who I see once or twice a month, who I get on really well with. With him, I'm calm and controlled. I'm happy with this situation. I can have a lot of fun on my own.

But recently, a new guy has started at work. We got on OK while I was teaching him the job, and one night it was just the two of us (for 3 hours, on a *really* slow shift). We got to chatting, and I came out to him (I'm out to everyone at work, and a good portion of the customer base too <g> ) to spare having to explain why I don't have a girlfriend. Then, in a really shocking move, he came out to me. I had no idea. He asked me to keep it quiet, which I obviously have.

Since then, I've not worked with him to have a chat, but I have manoeuvred to work the same "slow shift" with him. He seems open to us working together. However, I'm finding it really difficult to stay calm around him. Even thinking about him gives me the grins. It's not sexual, and I don't know him well enough to say he's a nice chap (though that's what he seems to be).

I think I'm feeling this way because he trusted me enough to come out to me, *and* to keep it a secret. Like we've shared a secret or something. But it's not really that big of a deal. Perhaps if I was straight, it would be (?) but I've been out pretty much my whole life, and I know a fair few gay people. It's not like someone coming out to me is a Big Thing. I'm just concerned that I'm going to come on too strong, and end up wrecking what could be a rather valuable friendship.

He is quite similar to me in some ways - shy, reserved, quiet. He's also ~5 years my junior.

So, how do I slow down the emotional avalanche? How can I explain to him that I'm not serious when I joke around? I'm starting to behave like a lovesick teenager (I left all that behind years ago). And why am I behaving like this?

Please help me, hive mind. I'm not exactly dripping with friends, and it would be nice to have another one. I want to get off on the right footing.</g>

Intense Extended Exercise Makes Me Sleepy

Intense Extended Exercise Makes Me Sleepy Why? I am a little overweight and starting to get active again. I started a workout routine yesterday and pushed a little too hard which resulted in my getting intensely sleepy. This isn't the first time I've experienced it. I was breathing hard, and had been for a while, but not struggling to get air. It seems like oxygen deprivation might be the culprit but I havn't heard of this happening before. Any one else heard of or experienced this before and have an idea of what it is?

Thanks!
why are some paints so luminous?

Why do the paints used on DynoRod vans, for example, have such luminosity? What colour space do they use? What causes the intensity? What is the range of other colours that have the same effect? If it is a significant range, why are these other colours apparently eschewed when this example is so distinctive?

Colour monkeys, assemble!

Apologies to those who could help but don't know the specific example to which I refer - I'd send you to the DynoRod website, but the RGB version of their orange is bland and slightly murky.
