I sent a video outlining an idea I came up with for a DB and series of apps to a contact I made at a big org. I received a terse reply that appeared to be claiming the idea as theirs. What is the best way to respond?

I 'm learning English. When you say,"She is an intellectual person." or "She is an intelligent person.", what's the difference of meaning actually? I think ..."My cat is intellectual." is odd, though.("My cat is intelligent." is okay!??)

Design rip-off advice needed. I made a few tshirt designs on Zazzle, and have been making a little extra money with one recent design in particular. Today I found that someone is selling nearly the same design on tshirthub.com. They are too similar for it to be a coincidence. Do I have any right to ask them to take it down?

New York intellectuals: where do I find them? Where in the city would I go if I wanted to find intellectuals of the old-school variety, all ready to discuss literature and history, existentialism and poetry, theater and mythology and politics? I know they exist--some older specimens write letters to the New Yorker--but where do these special fauna array to be met and befriended?

I've been offered a new contract/consulting job where I would be paid not by the hour or for a specific deliverable, but at a flat weekly rate. Under this arrangement, how might I make intellectual property distinctions between works that will belong to this client, and outside works I may do for myself or others?

An artist friend of mine was surprised to see his artwork used without permission on a flier for a band. He had posted the artwork on his website. What can/should he do to stop the misuse? I know that he automatically holds a copyright on the work as its creator. (I have advised him to post watermarked versions of his work in the future to prevent future misuse.)

My Dad sells computer games on the Internet as a hobby. He has done nothing to protect his intellectual property rights other than placing a copyright notice on an "About" screen. He thinks Nintendo might like one of his game ideas and would like to contact them about it. Should he be concerned about protecting his IP rights before contacting Nintendo or is it too late?
