I need to buy (gack!) my own health insurance. I'm in New York state. I'm looking for very good coverage. Would rather pay more for high-quality, flexible, non-nitpicky coverage (if such a thing exists), and then economize by opting for high deductibles.
I once lived in CT for a short while, and loved Anthem Blue Cross. But I've heard horror stories about Empire Blue Cross in NY. What other options are out there?

Help me find health insurance. Moving back to the States with wife and two kids after being away for 10 years. May not have jobs when we return. What is the best way to find health insurance? I have no idea where to start or what my options are if we return unemployed. Moving to Texas if that is relevant.

Someone gouged my parked car and has been attempting to fix it with touch-up paint and clearcoat. The results are unsatisfactory to me, and this someone refuses to do any more. I would rather the scratch be completely gone, instead of remainder marks remaining. So far, the professional opinion has been to repaint the area for a few hundred bucks. What is my recourse here? Settle via insurance? I do not care to pay out of pocket for something that was clearly not my mistake.

Applying for homeowner's insurance (with Geico in NY state), I was given a quote of $1761. At that point, they took my social security number, and came back and told me the premium would be $200 higher. They would not account for the difference....it was "take it or leave it". And I have a nearly perfect credit rating.
Thoughts?

My beautiful car was destroyed in a crash, someone turned in front of me and it's totally their fault. But their insurance made me an offer for about half of my car's replacement value. And I'm injured too. Now they want to cut off my loaner rental car, to pressure me to settle. How can I get justice?

I just got health insurance for the first time in my adult life (thanks a bunch America), through my spouse's company. It seems like fairly robust insurance, and I would love to finally get treatment for my debilitating anxiety and possible ADHD. But I am so fearful of having these things on my medical record and possibly causing future insurance problems, that I am hesitant to make any appointments. Am I justified in these concerns? Are there things I can do to mitigate the repercussions?
