Can I give them a copy of my insurance card?

I live in a apartment building with a floor of parking inside the building. Two days ago, a neighbor who was parking her car next to mine dented and scratched the rear of my car. The damage is fairly minimal but will require some work. She was very apologetic about the situation and left me a voicemail stating that she had hit my car and that would should sync up to exchange insurance information. Later in the day, we talked and she suggested the we exchange a copy of each others insurance card. In this situation, is it ok to give her a copy of my entire insurance card? Is there any information on this I should not be sharing? For reference, my insurance is GEICO.

Auto insurance liability limits?

I'm evaluating my insurance coverage, and I'm confused a bit on auto insurance liability. It seems like a typical liability policy is $100k per person for bodily injury. From the tales of medical bills I've heard, it seems like a bad accident could pretty easily cause bills far exceeding that. Even if I increase it to $300k or $500k, if the actual costs are higher than that, it could pretty easily wipe out all my assets. What really happens in accident cases like that? Do they generally just settle for the insurance limits? [more inside]

Replacement Policy Medicare

I screwed up. I bought a policy through Humana that is evidently a replacement policy for Medicare for my father. I bought it in January of this year from my parent's old insurance guy. How do I get health insurance for my Eastern European mother-in-law?

How do we avoid screwing over a coworker's health insurance?

My husband got a new job and it looks like his health insurance will be better and cheaper for us than what we have through my employer. Problem is, my office is tiny and if we drop off our insurance, only one person in the office will remain on the group plan and a group of one is not eligible for a group plan. If we drop off the plan, I want to ensure she doesn't get screwed over. Can you help me figure out what questions she and I need to ask the owners and our insurance broker and/or come up with creative solutions to pose to the owners of the company? (I realize that this is really the coworker's issue but we're a very tight-knit office and my coworker wants this help.) [more inside]

Is there a good reason to renew our home warranty?

My boyfriend and I bought a house together last April, which so far has proven to be pretty good idea. Along with the bazillion other really expensive things involved in buying a house, we purchased both homeowner's insurance and a home warranty shortly before the close of escrow. I might have been misunderstanding the legalities of everything, but I remember somehow arriving at the belief that both homeowner's insurance and a home warranty were required for the first year; however, renewing the warranty was optional. Call the town now or wait for insurance?

During a windstorm, a tree fell on our detached garage last night and destroyed it (no cars were in it, but the roof is completely caved in and the walls are buckling). We live adjacent to a public high school, and the tree was/is on the school's property, not ours. I filed a claim with our homeowners insurance already and asked if I should call the town directly or if the insurance folks should do it. The call center person I spoke to recommended that I wait. The claims adjuster is supposed to call "before tomorrow evening." I'm feeling antsy. Should I just go ahead and call the town? Would I be letting myself in for any potential foul-ups in reimbursement (either from insurance or from the town)?

Need private Blue Cross/Blue Shield health plan. Help me pick.

Need private health insurance for my partner, my workplace will be reimbursing all his private health insurance instead of adding him as family/dependent. So cost is minor issue, more concerned with good, specific coverage. We would like to go Blue Cross/Blue Shield due to previous positive experiences. Confused as to what plan will work. He works in a high-stress, very physical outdoorsy job. Without fail, he makes a few urgent care/ER visits a year and would appreciate some therapist coverage to deal with anxiety related to job. Being able to see specialists, get bloodwork and labs done without breaking the bank would be appreciated as well. Any advice? Florida here, if it matters. Looking for low deductible, fixed doctor and hospital visit costs.
