The RER B trains which go to the Paris airport were severely delayed on the morning of June 6, causing me to miss my flight. I have travel delay insurance, but the insurance company requires evidence of the train delay before I can make a claim. How would I get this evidence?

Renter's insurance and travel, special libelous snowflake edition: I live in New York City and want renter's insurance that (a) covers libel and (b) will cover my wife's nice (~$2k with lenses) camera *when she is travelling*. I can't get a straight answer out of any insurance companies on what their policies actually cover. Can anyone recommend a company?

I'm about to book a flight from the UK to Bangkok (flying late Feb) to start a backpacking trip. I've got a recently renewed passport and funds for travel. I haven't got a flight back (not using a RTW ticket), travel insurance, VISAs, vaccinations or anything else yet. I want to book the flight so that it's real and happening, but is there anything else I really need to do FIRST?

My wife and I are taking a month-long trip from the U.S. to France and Italy later this year.
Do we need travel insurance? If so, how much and what kind? Where do we find it? We have medical insurance that applies abroad, so we're mainly worried about cancellation insurance in case some sort of disaster strikes before the trip. Is it possible to buy travel insurance without medical insurance? We've never done anything like this before, and have no clue about "best practices". What can you tell us?

I (26/male) am leaving Los Angeles in January for at least one year of backpacking solo around Australia, NZ, SE Asia, and possibly some other places! Other than enjoying my remaining time before I leave (going to favorite restaurants, hanging with friends, etc.), what pre-trip activities should I be thinking about, and what preparations should I be making (especially while I have good insurance)? What do you wish someone had told you before you left for a trip of this length and scope?

My Dad does hemodialysis 3-times a week. He is a Canadian, but we have found a great dialysis clinic that will treat him here in Louisiana when he visits.
The problem is that it now looks like we are going to have trouble finding travel insurance for him. Mom and Dad won't travel to the States without it. Has anyone got any ideas how we can best find this insurance for him? Do you know any dialysis patients who have found travel insurance for a U.S. vacation?
