Is there an equivalent to a Travis Pick for piano players?

I decided to learn how to play the piano this year, but I don't have the money or time to take lessons. I try to practice (scales, mostly) about 15 min/day. I'm now familiar with most of the major and minor scales, and I bought a poster that shows all of the most common piano chords and that helps a lot. I've been musical all my life, but only read music at the kindergarten level (or musical equivalent). I've written many songs over the past 20 years, and I now have the skills to put chords to them, YAY!!! However, I have no sense of Rhythm or style when it comes to playing piano. With guitar, there are certain types of strumming patterns and picking styles like the Travis pick which you can just repeat as you move through the chord progressions, and it makes for a pretty decent accompaniment to lots of folk and singer/songwriter style music. Is there a parallel with the piano? Are there certain patterns that one can learn to fill in the space between chords? Am I even describing this coherently?

Help me become a bomb-ass hip-hop dancer in New York City!

Where do you find great hip-hop dance classes in NYC? I have never taken a dance class before. I am interested in private instruction or intimate classes (NOT a gym class...). I would like to learn as quickly as possible, in a structured way. I don't expect to go from 0-60 overnight, but I will put in some serious work. I tend to prefer methodical approaches to learning new skills with clear goals. I'm most interested in hearing about personal experiences and recommendations.

What's the point of getting fit if I can't go out and injure myself?

I've recently finally gotten really fit and in shape, after spending most of my 27 years...not doing that. I've been looking for something local and athletic to do, both for fun and for fitness, but since I haven't played sports since I was 12 or so, my skills are lacking. However, all the local instruction is oriented towards youth, so I turn to you folk for aid. How can an sports newb adult learn how to play? [more inside]

Story based language instruction?

Do you know of any story based language instruction books? I have a vague memory from when I was a kid (late 70's/early 80's) of reading book that was the story of an american boy going to visit france. The book starts out in english, and adds french words to the story as the boy in the story encounters them. If I remember correctly, the last chapter is entirely in french. [more inside]

Intensive driving tuition in Nottingham UK.

Daughter passed her theory driving test some time ago but failed the practical. Having had more tuition recently she has another practical test in a few weeks with the complication that her theory test runs out very shortly after. If she fails this practical test she will have to start again from the begining by retaking her theory again. Can anyone recommend a driving instructor in the Nottingham area who will be able to offer a short and intensive course to enable her to pass her practical?
