The Aux Input on my car radio menu is missing!

I have a 2004 Hyundai Tiburon with its original factory radio, a Kenwood KDC-MPV6022. I've just now tried to use its Aux In feature by connecting a cable to its RCA cables as listed on page 31 of the manual. According to Page 27 of the manual, the radio's configuration menu should have an Aux On/Off setting but this setting doesn't appear in my menu. I can hear the music from the iPhone but it's in addition to the other source (radio or CD), not instead of the other source, i.e. I hear both the iPhone and the other sound combined. I've tried connecting older iPods in case there were some equipment compatibility issues but the results were the same. What am I missing here? The radio has the Aux In cables so clearly it's expecting the audio. Why doesn't the radio allow me to select it as an input?

Retro-fitting MP3 input to 1970s record player?

I have a record player from the 1970s (a Garrard 2025 TC to be exact). How difficult (or risky) would it be to replace the sound input from the tape deck with a mini-jack input so that I can play MP3s (such as from an iPod) through the speakers? Is it just a matter of taking the back off, cutting wires and splicing them together?

Google Japanese Input

I have just started using Google Japanese Input on Windows 7. It works fine, but I would like to be able to switch input modes (i.e. between direct input, hiragana, katakana etc) using a shortcut key. Currently I have to click on the language bar to switch, which is a pain. I looked in the properties and can't see an option for shortcuts. I tried googling but can't seem to find an answer either. typing katakana - details

For those who, like me, frequently use the Japanese language on Windows, I have a 2-question query so I can type my name without hassle: 1) How to add a new Katakana word to the candidate list, so when I type in hiragana it comes up as an option without having to manually switch to katakana? 2) How to get the small Katakana letters? Like the ァ in ステファニー or ェ in ニフェー デービル . These come up sometimes in hiragana but less often. [more inside]

I can go and edit my bios settings, save and exit, etc. However, on the next screen (where I have the option of booting from CD and such) keyboard input ceases to be. [more inside]

Filmscanner input resolution?

Filmscanner 101. Is there any advantage to setting the *input* resolution for scans intended for monitor display to anything greater than 72dpi? The default input resolutions on my scanner vary with the dimensions selected for the output file. Bigger output files require higher input resolutions (from 704dpi to 1759dpi). As everything will be displayed at 72dpi, why not *scan* everything at 72dpi? It all looks the same to me on my screen.

Web Design Critique

A site I designed was recently described as "competent but uninspired," while this stung, it matches what I feel about it. My question to the community: are any designers here willing to take a look and offer me some constructive criticism? I'd really appreciate it, as this site is for an artist friend and I'd like the design to be both professional and "inspired" without obscuring the art. [Link Inside] [more inside]
