Is there an international group of innovative, charitably-minded people that get together and share ideas (physically) in the way that the Freemasons, Rotary and Lions Clubs all do? But without the ceremony, pomp and irrelevance (of some of these associations). [more inside]

I think the time has come for me to jump the iPhone ship. The announcement of the Google version of the Galaxy S4
at I/O was the clincher. But I am not 100% sold on the idea, mainly because the S4 is an ugly brute, but also because I fear for the apps and innovation I will miss. Help me out, specifically in finding a worthy replacement for my beloved Mailbox
app. [more inside]

Can you share examples of innovation programs in companies that you are aware of? How do they measure the outcomes of such programs?
I know Google used to or still has a program where in employees work on projects of their choosing for 20% of their time.
Any thoughts around steps that can be taken to increase innovation in an IT organization would be helpful.

In the past 24 hours I've discovered that both of my "million dollar" ideas (for websites/services/apps) are already out there and established. To me, these weren't just "good ideas", they were "innovations" I was emotionally invested in and slowly working towards. How do I move on? (in two parts) [more inside]

Suggest me a rewarding and inspiring career side-step.
I desperately need to find a new job, but the obvious ones directly on my career path are just not working for me.
I'm looking for a more creative/design environment which will value my engineering skills and to which I can bring my unusual innovative experience. [more inside]

Why is there so little innovation nowadays in desktop OSes (both Windows and Mac)? I would think features like a super-smart Siri, face and gesture recognition, and perfectly grandparent-friendly interfaces would long be standard by now, but that is far from the case. What is holding things up?

I know this is a next to impossible inquiry but I'm doing it for a very kind Australian friend who requested I do research in this area for a friend of his who, also, lives in Australia.
It seems that this man has created a very innovative and clever new design for the interior of a motor home (they do a lot of "caravaning" in Australia) and he would like to be able to find an American contact so he can come to the U.S. and exhibit his design at motor home/caravan shows here. Where would I begin to look?

Have you read or can you point me to any interesting articles about what will be the future of media like films/software/books given the way they are all being distributed online via torrent sites & the like. Will copyright go away or what? I am looking for INTERESTING theoretical speculations, not some person just saying the letter of the current law will be enforced or the usual doomsday-talk.

Innovative Books: I am looking to compile a list of the most innovative uses of the book format. Books that break the mould in their layout and design, perhaps books that use online systems to extend their content value or push their form into new places. I am most interested in narrative and theory, but any book that is interesting (artist books etc.) would be really appreciated. [more inside]

I was thinking going back for an MBA, but realize I may be looking for something different. My background is in Internet, technology and media, and I have a degree in computer science. I'm also good at design. I've started technology businesses on my own, but I want to make a change and open up new directions. My interests lie more in the area of innovation, new product development/design, consulting and entrepreneurship. From the research I've done, most of the MBA programs are pretty similar, and geared to people who want to work on Wall Street or in large corporations. While I'm not particularly interested in these areas, I definitely want to learn about business as pertains to my areas of interest, and make new connections. Are there any graduate programs (MBA or otherwise) more tailored more toward my interests?
