[MomFilter] Looking for a reasonably cheap, reliable printer (for printing text) for an iMac. Leaning towards laser as the experiences with inkjets have been that bouts of little use lead to still full, yet dry and thus worthless ink cartridges. [more inside]

I have a Dell Photo All-In-One Printer 924, and I can't get the "low ink" warning to go off. I did install a new black ink cartridge (not a DELL product), and it works fine, but the warning still won't go off. What can I do ?

Have you replaced your inkjet print cartridges with a generic by physically moving the cartridge chip? This site gives instructions, but I can't tell if this will screw up my printer's ability to detect low ink levels or not. Does this work?

Does anyone know of any (genuine?) alternatives to the Dell printer cartridges required for their A940 multifunction printer? I would like to be able to get cartridges at my convenience, without having to wait for them to be shipped directly from Dell. I've heard (here) that although the printer is just a rebranded Lexmark X5150 MFP, there is something about how they "key" the cartridges that makes the Lexmark ones unusable. Any ideas? Should I refill?
