I love my Jotter, but I'm looking for something similar in a fountain pen. My number 1 priority is slimness - I hate fat pens - but I would also like to avoid cheap-feeling plastic. What are my options for under $50? Should I stick with Parker? Is the Cross Classic worthy of my grasp? What's the best non-bulky fountain pen you've used?
So I have this new t-shirt with a huge white print on the front (it's a Misfits skull), and the print/ink is really thick and rigid. Are there any tricks to soften the print and make it more pliable without ruining the shirt?
I have a Cross Classic Century pen that came with a standard Cross ballpoint ink refill installed. I don't like the ballpoint refill. Do I have any options when it comes to other (read: better) refills that will work with this pen? [more inside]
I'm looking to dye some fabric that's a 35/65 cotton/poly blend and I want to do it quick, dirty, and cheap. [more inside]
My monster dogs just chewed a pack of neon blue liquid ink pens on my very light carpet. There are several dark ink blobs and other smeared patches. I'm afraid to touch it to even start cleaning it up. What can anybody recommend. Bonus points for how to clean a white (now spotted blue) bull terrier!
Please help me save my inkjet printer. Some time ago I used the old trick of taping the ink cartridges to use the perfectly good ink left inside when the printer claims that they are "empty". It worked brilliantly and I got probably over 100 extra pages before the print quality started to diminish. Now I have replaced the cartridges, and the printer is spitting out completely blank pages. Why did this happen, and how can I fix it? [more inside]
I'm helping a buddy clean out his basement before renovating. We're finding a lot of miscellany including a large storage container of random cords and cables for electronic equipment. Also unearthed in the pile of boxes has been a scanner and inkjet printer from at least 10 years ago. What are the best options for dealing with this stuff? (More inside.) [more inside]
I recall vivid fragments of a short film that used to be shown as filler on Showtime or Cinemax during the mid 80s (?), around the same time they would show the evolution segment of Allegro non troppo. It was drawn in a minimalist wiggly thickly inked style. The protagonist was a very thin guy in a ridiculously broad suit of armor. He escapes the "boss battle" by slipping out the back of his armor. The princess runs to hug the empty suit of armor and plummets off a cliff. I recall it as being mostly white backgrounds and the transitions were ink splotches. Dialogue was minimal or non-existent. Can you name this short?
I have a document (parchment) that is going to be signed by many of my friends and family which will then be framed and displayed in our house. I would like to know if there is a specific ink that I should use that is especially resistant to fading over time and exposure to light. [more inside]
A friend of mine wants to get another tattoo, and the phrase he's picked to get inked is this: "I am the angel of death, not mercy." He would like for the ink to be in Latin, so obviously he wants to make sure the translation is spot-on. Any Latin scholars able to help with this? Thank you so much!
I'm a doodler that likes to make abstract drawings. I'm interested in actually spending some time "doodling with purpose" with an eye toward making something(s), eventually, that might be worth hanging, framed on my wall. I primarily do black ink on white paper. What kind of ink/pens should I be using? What kind of paper?
I'm looking for a refillable ink pen that I can use for years to come. [more inside]
We're trying to optimize our home printing. We don't print an enormous amount, but we want to print in color and to be able to print in moderately high quality. You've already solved this problem and put some thought into minimizing cartridge expense: what printer do you use? how often do you replace the ink? do you refill the cartridges at a store or buy new ones from the OEM? (Bonus points if you've solved this problem for the HP 8600.) [more inside]
Do you happen to know of this drawing? [more inside]
I need a cheap, reliable printer with cheap(ish) replacement ink that can print in black even if other colors are out. Mac, if it matters. [more inside]

A staggering, overwhelming amount of tattoo artists from all over the USA will be attending the 3rd Annual Chicago Tattoo Arts Convention. Is anyone familiar with any of these artists? Tablet or Digitizer that works responsively with MS OneNote v2007 or 2010? Heading to grad school in the fall. My memory recall is much better when taking notes by hand and besides I have some math classes that will cover expressions that don't lend themselves to typing on a keyboard. Years ago had a fujitsu convertible laptop provided by a past employer that worked great when in tablet mode for digitizing handwriting using the stylus but I'm not so keen on purchasing one now as I don't want to outlay that much cash. I could either go for a digitizer - something like the WaCom Bamboo (but NOT the WaCom bamboo as its got known issues with OneNote) or even a full tablet that can do inking and supports OneNote. It seems like the new rage of tablets that Apple ushered in don't do much with digital ink (its all touchy feely touch screens now) and are better suited for consuming content then creating it. Your experience and advice? Difficulty: Budget under $700
