Knee pain concerns: I have a small pain that feels like it is coming from the upper outside of my left knee. I've had this issue on and off for a long time and it doesn't prevent me from doing anything, but it has me worried.

I am getting soreness/discomfort in a strange place while doing squats: on the outside of my right leg only, 4-6 inches above my ankle. I'm returning to weightlifting after a year off with unrelated shoulder injury, and this happens with very little additional weight beyond just the bar. Should I be stretching, starting with less weight, or something else?

RunningInjuryFilter: Doing couch to 5k. On week 7 (25 minutes running 3 times a week). Yey! After doing a weighted squat incorrectly a couple of weeks ago (too much weight on balls of feet), have a soreness/twinge/ache on my left front lower leg (about where shin splits would be). This gets better as I exercise and warm up, but it also hasn't gone away. Do I need to take a week off? Will this get better or worse if I ignore it? Will I hinder my progress?

American injured in Japan filter. I'm currently staying in Harajuku with 4 other Americans. One of my friends twisted her foot/ankle pretty badly walking home last night, and now it hurts to put any weight on it. She has traveler's insurance. We're looking for suggestions on how best to proceed with getting treatment / diagnosis (we've been looking at international hospitals online, specifically St.
Luke's); information on what to expect; and suggestions for macguyvering maneuverability for the rest of the trip. All help welcome. Domo Arigato Gozaimasu!

How can a homeless person who has been injured (stabbed, for instance) expect to be treated at a U.S. city hospital with no money or health insurance? Surely they wouldn't let him bleed to death? And if they do turn him away, what are his options?

I need to find
a shoulder wrap like this one from Therma Wrap or
this one from ActiveWrap so that I can securely ice my shoulder. I'm in Toronto and would rather not pay an additional $33 for shipping from the States. Cheaper is better ($69.95 for ActiveWrap?!), but if all else fails, I could try to sew something. My dodgy left shoulder and I would greatly appreciate any solid leads on Toronto suppliers.

Thanks to a douchebag contractor that dumped a cubic yard of broken cinder blocks in the bike lane, we're back to the eternal question: Is it better to leave a large but shallow scrape injury open to the air or cover it? Or is there some other thing I should be doing?

Personal injury filter: I broke my leg very badly--clean break of both tibia and fibula--while visiting my brother's apartment building in Brooklyn NY. I required surgery and a 5-day hospital stay. I will require months of PT and further ortho visits. I don't know yet if I'll lose any time from work beyond the week I was in the hospital, because my job is understanding and will let me work from home for at least a while. I cannot drive for at least a month, so I'm dependent on the kindness of my friends to bring me things, and as I live in a 3-story walkup (in Baltimore), I won't be going anywhere for a while. My question is about whether I should try to have the apartment building owner(s) contribute money toward what I expect to be quite a high amount. I'm not looking for damages--just for whatever my insurance won't cover.

HR/YANML filter: One of my assistants had an on-the-job injury today, and at the hosptial, they failed to give her the pee test drug screening that our company requires. She's concerned that they may use that as basis for claiming that she refused the test, and therefore will be on her own for the expense. I don't feel like this is the case, but I wanted someone with a more informed answer to help me reassure her.
So, do they have the burden of proof if they claim she refused? How long after the event can they require it?

I started running 2 - 3 weeks ago and I run around 3 miles every second day. So for the past week, I've had this sort of "pain" or somekind of uncomfortable feeling above my knee. The "pain" is not in the knee itself, but maybe in muscle above it? When I'm laying in bed or sitting it feels the same way. It doesn't hurt, but its just a little bit uncomfortable. Its kinda like a feeling of someone is squeezing a muscle just above my knee.
Should I be worried and go to a doctor or is this normal, when you havnt done any exercise for 8 years and just started? I'm 22 and male btw.
