What's up with this post-fall soreness and bruising? Should I worry?

Two and a half weeks ago, I tripped and fell (with maximum drama and embarrassment) at work. I landed on the bottom of my knee (beneath the knee cap) and shin with great force onto a hard surface, concrete covered with berber carpet. It's still developing new and odd bruising (details within) and is still remarkably uncomfortable. The skin and knee bones don't hurt, but the soft tissue is very ouchy. Is this a "deep bruises take time to heal" thing or a "Martha, get your bruised self to the doctor" thing? [more inside]

How Can I Help Adult Brain Injured Son on Disability Get a Part-Time Job

My son is 36 years old, I have POA and am his advocate. Prior to receiving benefits, he was a very hard worker always fighting to do his best despite his ongoing associated issues. We've worked with brain injury groups to attain his independence and he's married now for the 5th time. (another story) They include cluster headaches with profuse vomiting, slurred speech, hand tremors and poor reading skills. (Doing better with medication now) He has permission from the state's "Ticket to Work" program to work part time and we have sought their help to no avail. (Out of funding). He's has gone to the manager of many fast food places, grocery stores, etc but his slurred speech and tremor makes him look like he is high on drugs, thus rendering him unemployable. They always tell him to go online and apply for the position but his work history *appears* to be sketchy and he has been on disability for 4 years now. How to explain all of this online??? Help me deal with a bully in an otherwise positive competitive sports environment.

I train in a martial art at a place with an active competitive team, which I am trying to join. The other person there who is my size/skill level and on the competitive team goes very hard with me in sparring and always leaves me injured/bruised to a greater degree than any other student. How can I work around this situation or have a mature and productive confrontation about it, given that I still want to compete so I cannot avoid working with this person 100%? [more inside]

Or do I just need to knead my knee?

I just got into road cycling this year. I bought a bike in February, and have been ramping up in miles and pace since then. I just did a metric century (actually ~67 miles) a few weeks ago, my longest ride yet, and it killed my left knee. With this in mind, how do I keep up my progress in the off-season and return harder better faster stronger? What else can I do to move up a division for next year? (Also-- your thoughts on trainer versus stationary exercise bike: give me them.) [more inside]

Pain above my right knee?

I started running 2 - 3 weeks ago and I run around 3 miles every second day. So for the past week, I've had this sort of "pain" or somekind of uncomfortable feeling above my knee. The "pain" is not in the knee itself, but maybe in muscle above it? When I'm laying in bed or sitting it feels the same way. It doesn't hurt, but its just a little bit uncomfortable. Its kinda like a feeling of someone is squeezing a muscle just above my knee. Should I be worried and go to a doctor or is this normal, when you havnt done any exercise for 8 years and just started? I'm 22 and male btw.
