In January of this year, I suffered a really, really severe 3rd degree sprain of my left ankle. I asked this question back in March, and y'all gave me a bunch of great advice. Hopefully you have some more, because I'm struggling to adjust to my new weak-ankled life. [more inside]
I am currently waiting for ankle ligament reconstruction surgery, but still want to keep as active as possible in the meantime. My two main ways of exercising - riding my horse and playing soccer weekly - are now out of the question, what else can I do to maintain some level of activity that doesn't involve using my injured ankle too much? Got a little too enthusiastic practicing my Zumba moves a couple days ago, and smashed my pinkie toe into the coffee table. Oops. How can I burn 500 calories a day through exercise, and avoid going stir crazy with a freshly broken toe? [more inside]

Hello all, I know YANMD, but I am curious about how to go about addressing my muscle gripes with a doctor. [more inside]
I do not have adequate health insurance, am self-employed, and any injury that might prevent me from working steadily would be economically problematic (ok, disastrous). I also would like to begin riding my bicycle again as a form of exercise and enjoyment. Would the health benefits of biking outweigh the risk of injury? I would be primarily riding on designated bike trails, not public roads. I'm somewhat paranoid because a friend (with good insurance, fortunately) had a mishap on a bike trail that required surgery. I don't know how common such mishaps are. What would you do in my situation?

Thanks to a previous post I've been able to get back to the gym and get a great workout going. Now I have a snag. I hurt my rotator cuff years ago (due to a poor benchpress technique or lack thereof). I do the advised exercises for it but regardless, I am unable to lift above my head without injury (and the doc advised against it). Eventually surgery may help. Shoulder presses prior to injury would really bulk up my shoulders but because of this injury I cannot do them anymore. I do dumbbell front and side raises which help but is there any other exercises that might bulk/round the shoulder? I am not going for extremely heavy weights. Just enough to continue to challenge the muscle. Any thoughts?

I've taken up walking on a treadmill lately, and as I ramp up the intensity I seem to be bruising one small spot on one foot. I'm not sure what I'm doing to cause it. It's not a shoe issue. I get this whether I'm wearing regular running shoes or my Vibrams. [more inside]

Yesterday I started having sudden sharp pain and stiffness in my left knee, above and around the kneecap. I suspect I injured it doing squats and lunges (with bad form) the night before. Could it get better on its own, if I rest for a few days? Or should I see a doctor (and what kind)? [more inside]
I am getting soreness/discomfort in a strange place while doing squats: on the outside of my right leg only, 4-6 inches above my ankle. I'm returning to weightlifting after a year off with unrelated shoulder injury, and this happens with very little additional weight beyond just the bar. Should I be stretching, starting with less weight, or something else?
