How do i use two separate instances of firefox at the same time? The thing it, it has to be firefox (because of greasemonkey) so i cant use a different browser (or can i?) and i have to be able to log-in to the same website with two different accounts.
Any ideas?

Keeping my name private on my website - can robots.txt help? I only use my first name on my website, for privacy concerns, but my husband is a public person (professional comic book artist) so he uses his full name.

I just noticed today that if I google my own name, my website comes up as #1 on the search listing. I think this is because I have linked to my husband's site (the URL is his name) so now google is finding my first and last name together and referencing my personal website.

Is there a way to write a robots.txt file that will discourage robots from finding my name on the site? My alternative is to replace all instances of linking to his site with a tinyurl link instead and hope that google refreshes its cache soon.

I don't keep any content that is offensive, I just don't like work people spying on my personal life. :)

Montreal Restaurants

Going to Montreal next weekend (June 6-8) for pure recreation. I'm looking for great restaurant recommendations, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also: I know now (given the difficulty of booking a hotel room) that it's the Grand Prix weekend. I've heard that it can be difficult but not impossible to go to some events associated with this. Is there a particular event I shouldn't miss?
BTW, this isn't a romantic getaway, it's a reconnect-with-an-old-friend weekend. If that makes any difference.

What happens in Vegas, Stays In Mexico?? Does anyone else remember the "What happens in *, stays in *" being used by Mexico (or some city therein) way before Las Vegas started advertising "What happens in (Las) Vegas, Stays in (Las) Vegas"?

I distinctly remember a Mexican town or Mexico itself advertising this very slogan years before the stupid Las Vegas ones. It's funny how quickly a slogan can be erased from the collective memory and reapplied to another thing. I suppose lots of money and advertising does that.

But am I remembering this wrong?

Is late April/early May a bad time to hike in Norhtern Spain due to too much rain?

We are considering a one week trip to northern Spain including at least 2 days hiking and photographing in the Picos de Europa region. One of us is an expert hiker and the other is a beginner. However, the concern is about the weather. The plan is to go late April/early May however, we do not fancy hiking in the rain. Is this timeframe a bad idea?

What do I do with an ant Queen?

So last night, I found what I think I've determined is an ANT QUEEN crawling across the carpet in front of my tv. I caught it. What in blazes do I do now? Make a little crown? It's weird and looks closest to this.

Though with a more traditional ant head, antennae and no pincer things at the rear end of the rear section (which is six segmented). The proportions are dead on tho'. It's about 1" long. No exaggeration.

Is this a rare thing? Should I contact my local entomologist? The East Bay Vivarium? Does anyone want one?

Where can I take my kids to see Script Ohio for free? I've got 4 children, three of which are 100% dedicated to watching Script Ohio. Unfortunately I can't afford 6 tickets to the game to watch it live. So, my question is where does the band practice, and is it open to the public?

Also, does anyone have any tips on attending the Skull Session - Where to park? How to get the best seats? What time to show up? I figure this is a good back-up plan, and we can go to COSI afterwards.

Is it possible to find inexpensive housing in London? I'd like to spend six months to a year in London researching and writing a book. I have a very limited pension income, plus occasional unpredictable freelance writing assignments. I'm thinking shared housing, a room, a house-sitting arrangement is my only hope. Does anyone have experience or suggestions to share--including how to look for housing from the USA?

Comedyfilter: King of France swearing sketch?

Am I insane? I remember seeing a funny sketch comedy clip and the subject was a dad at the breakfast table verbally wailing on his family members using swear words that were all The-King-of-France related -- but I can't find any reference to it. I distinctly remember Kids in the Hall members, too. I was hoping to find the sketch on YouTube, but apparently not. I was pretty pretty sure it was a Kids in the Hall production, and the father kept saying things like, "if I were the king of france" or "for the love of the king of france" in an name-in-vain tone. Did I just dream this?

What are my rights as a freelance writer? If I'm writing about employees competing on a company-sponsored team, do I have to clear everything I write with their PR people?? I was invited by a friend to join a sports team his company was sponsoring to compete in an upcoming festival. Aspiring writer that I am, I pitched an idea to the local free paper, and to the other team members to see if they'd let me talk to them and write an article about the team and the event. The response from both was positive, and things went well. About a half week after I sent the e-mail out to the team describing what I wanted to do, the de facto leader of the team got a bit nervous...

She (let's call her 'Jodie') prohibited me from naming the company or any of its employees on the team unless I got prior approval from their corporate communications manager on the article I wrote before I sent it to my editor. She said this once in a conversation between me and her, and again in front of the entire team at a post-practice lunch. Needless to say, the rest of the team had cooled to the idea of talking to me after that.

It was a Sunday, and I explained to her that my deadline for the article was Monday morning. My compromise solution was to send the article to both my editor and their communications officer at the same time, and have the communications officer deal with the editor about any problems the company might have. Jodie's repeated that their communications officer had to give approval before anyone else saw the piece, and that if I was unwilling to do that then I had to remove all mention of the company and its employees.

I decided then that I had no choice but to remove them, and spent that night re-writing the article into something I am not at all happy with. I sat there enraged thinking, "What the hell? Why am I having to write this piece in this way? Why should I need to get the company's approval?"

Monday morning, Jodie e-mailed me again and told me that it was 'imperative' that I contact their corporate communications before I sent my article to the editor or for any sort of publication. Their communications manager got back to me separately (my friend in the company had e-mailed them for me), and after explaining that the problem was no longer really a problem and that I had re-written the piece, I asked her to clarify their company's policies about such things. She explained that it was unlikely that they would have asked to screen the article in advance of publication, but that they would have asked about what I was likely to write, and who I had talked to. This answer, while better than the one Jodie had given me, was still a bit too ambiguous for me.

My view on the situation is this: Whatever issues there were with my mentioning the company or employees in the piece, they were between the employees and the company. As a non-employee, I believe I was within my rights to write what I wanted within the bounds that I had laid out in my original e-mail to the entire team. It seems to me that there should have been no reason for me to submit my article for approval prior to its even being seen by an editor at the paper.

But: I have very little idea about what rights I actually have about writing in a public forum about a team sponsored by a private entity. If I am participating on a team that is sponsored by a private entity, am I automatically subject to whatever corporate rules they have about talking to the media, even if I'm not an employee myself? Help! I feel like I've self-censored, and it makes me feel dirty. Did I really? I'm in Canada, and so advice about my Canadian rights would be appreciated.

Can you recommend some books on the recording industry that would be helpful to someone wanting to enter the field? One of our members at Beatking is exploring a career in music and was looking for material that dealt with:

1. The solo musician (NO bands)
2. Deals with computer music
3. Covers aspects of getting music into TV, movies, or video games
4. Good networking tips
5. Covers the dark side of the music industry; pitfalls to watch out for

The book doesn't have to cover all 5, but at least one of the topics. If you know a title, could you let me know what numbers it covers? Thanks.

Anyone with a Master's in Public Administration?

What kind of jobs are available to those with a Master's in Public Administration? I am a senior at a high ranked public university in the U.S. and will be graduating in May with a political science and history degree. My grades are decent, but not spectactualr, 3.1. I am trying to keep my options open, but am looking at lower tier law schools and some entry level jobs in D.C. My mother is suggesting I look into a Master's in Pubic Administration. My ideal job would be to work for a corporation in a goverment relations department.

Where should I go to have a great time and hopefully meet people before I have to start working?

School just ended, and I have two weeks before I start working. Where can I go on a spur of the moment solo trip? I'm 19 and based in Hamilton, Ontario. I have about $1000 and there's a possibility that I could get my hands on a $250 voucher for US Air.

I'm not a big fan of camping, and I don't have a car. If I go, I'll most likely be alone (with a cell phone for safety, of course). I speak french and spanish, but since I'll be working in Quebec City, I'd rather avoid going to Quebec. Last but not least, I have no problem being by myself, but I'm a fairly social being so I'd prefer doing something that involves talking to other human beings from time to time.

I'm willing to consider any destination and any activity as long as I can get going as soon as possible. I've got the proverbial itchy feet!

Where, exactly, did the rhetorical device of framing a sentence with "In which _____ does _____" come from originally? I'm pretty sure it was a famous book that I will smack myself for not remembering as soon as you tell me. Because of the simplicity of the term tracking the answer down on Google has failed, and it's been bugging me for a while now.

My friend has an electric plane stuck in a tree. Help him get it down!!!! Here's his email. Anyone have any ideas?

I went flying on the weekend with my new electric plane, it was so much fun, did all the tricks and sins and stuff. Everything was going great until a gust of wind took it into the highest tree imaginable, where I think it still is. It was just impossible to get out no matter how many stones I threw at it – mental! I’m sure it’s still there as its pretty out of sight, so my idea is to swing by Stu’s, pick up his 5 metre sea-fishing rod, head out to Leroy Merlin, buy myself a roll of bamboo rods, some gaffer tape (the grey stuff), and try and fashion a hybrid fishing rod with bamboo at least 15 metres long. I know it sounds crazy, but the idea of leaving behind 350 euros in a tree is enough to make one stay awake at night. I gotta give it 1 more shot!!

If you have any other ideas about how I can get it out of the tree, ignoring the one’s I’ve already heard (1.shoot it with a gun, 2. Chop the tree down, 3. Climb the tree, 4. Call the fire brigade, 5. Set fire to the tree, 6. Hire a chainsaw and cut through the branches, and 7. High pressure hose-pipe). So far I’ll stick with my idea I think, but if you have any others, please let me know.

P.S. The tree is at least 15m high!!

Lizards in Medical Illustrations

I am doing some research for a paper and have been looking at old medical illustrations. In many of these they have drawn a lizard, and sometimes a fish suspended from the ceiling by a cord. They are hanging from their neck as well as their tail so that they are hanging the way they would look if they were on land ( or in the water). Why did they draw these? Were they an everyday decoration in those times? Did they signify something medical?

I have been freelancing as TV producer for one company for over 6 months now working on various projects. The boss thinks he needs me to stand down for a few weeks to keep my independent contractor status. All of the IRS info I have found is vague on the point of continuous employment. How long will I have to stand down (aka take the vacation I want to take) before I can return to this company? And legally how long is too long to be a contactor for one company (when does the IRS question contractor vs. employee)?
