I always assumed that, when making a connecting flight in an international airport, I was under international jurisdiction - the logic being that I clearly haven't 'entered' the airport's host country (haven't got a visa/filled out a landing form/whatever). My personal experience and now

A friend is considering participating in a paper-marriage-for-money to permit a stranger to remain in the U.S. The amount of money in question is not trivial and said friend is quite excited. I am an American citizen; my fiance is a British citizen. He is here in America right now as a tourist and will return to Britain in about 10 days. I'm sure I want to marry him and he's sure he wants to live here. Would it be better to marry him now and have him immigrate as a spouse (K3 or CR1?), or to bring him in on a K1 fiance visa?

On my sister's behalf: What is the best chance for my husband (and therefore me) to immigrate to B.C.? He is 53 (not good according to the Canadian point system), and has a great offer of work from a friend in Victoria who is a designer/builder of homes. My husband would be hired as a foreman, as he's a highly skilled and experienced carpenter, and is capable of managing and training crews. His formal education doesn't go beyond high school, his English language skills are good (but not his French), he has no criminal record, and he's in very good health.

My fiancée and I are travelling to her country this Christmas to visit some friends and her family. I am a US citizen and she is Moldovan. She is a grad student at my university here in the US. As she is from a non-EU Eastern European country, there is a chance that she may not be allowed entry into the country due to some technicalities, even though she will have received another valid F1 visa. If she is denied entry in the airport, what can I do? Am I allowed to see her, arrange for her flight home or contact a lawyer before they force her out?

What are the biggest differences between other developed countries and the United States in terms of their immigration policies? If I remember right, the US lets in about 1 million people or so a year (legally), most through family reunificiation, some through a lottery,business opportunities, refugee programs or other means.
Ive often wondered how other developed countries, such as those in the EU or Australia handle their immigration policies - more or less open?
Ive never been able to find a solid nonideological guide to different countries policies, so some pointers would be great!

I just got back from Texas with a day trip to Mexico. When coming back from Mexico but a few miles on 100 North IIRC inside the US border, we ran across a border patrol where I, the driver, was asked if the border patrol people could take a look inside the van. I said yes because I knew weren't hiding anything, but I'm guessing it was because we had a few Hispanics with us and a whole lot of luggage to hide people/stuff. Now, I've always heard one doesn't have to consent to allowing a search of the car, so I'm curious if I have said no to letting the border patrol look inside my car? What would have happened if I said no?

How difficult would it be for a nineteen year old with one year of college, moderate work experience, a TEFL certificate and little to no European language ability to get a temporary work visa in the EU? I'm thinking Germany, specifically. I've checked out
this thread, but that seems to pertain mostly to becomig a citizen. I'm not looking to become naturalized or anything (though that would be nice), just find a menial job to support myself for six months or less. Note: I'm willing to accept "impossible" as an answer.

I have a friend who lives in Canada while her boyfriend is just finishing up a psychology degree in England. He wants to move to Canada in the summer but there is the problem of not being able to get a job as a UK citizen. What are the requirements for British citizens to be able to work and live in Canada for an extended period of time (say several years at least)? They are not willing to get married yet. French Citizenship or Residence
I am a United States citizen who is looking to move to France. I am currently living in the Republic of Ireland but I am finding it harder and harder to maintain legal residence (even though, my mother is remarried to an Irishman and my ancestry is Irish) It seems you either have to be offered a contract for employment or be a student to stay here. I HEARD that requirements for French citizenship or permanent residence were more lenient. Does anyone have any information on this. I am NOT "highly skilled" in the slightest, unless you consider fixing PCs and Macs a skill.

I know there is a significant population of Japanese in Brazil (1 million), and that significant numbers of Chinese were imported as cheap labor into Panama and other countries. I would like to help a very talented friend to get a scholarship to study graphic design (postgrad) in Europe or the US.
She lives in an Arab country, which in my naive opinion could work for her advantage (with all the bridge-building that should be going on right now). From Google I got dozens of graphic design schools to which apparently she would have to apply, get accepted and then apply for a scholarship.
