UK immigration dual citizenship conundrum

Flestrin minimus, a US citizen by birth and also a British citizen by descent by way of being the legitimate son of a British father, is planning to travel to London to visit family and study. He has a valid US pasport and has applied for a British passport, BUT said British passport has not yet arrived (it turns out that allowing 40% longer than the 10 week estimate was not enough extra padding). So, he has a US pasport, a one-way plane ticket and time constraints. How best to proceed? [more inside]

Job outlook for US citizen in the UK?

Partnered with an EU citizen, likely soon becoming a trailing spouse. I am a master's-level clinician (NP) whose qualifications will sadly not be recognized by the NHS. Questions for the green: - Thoughts on general job prospects/climate for foreigners? - Does marriage to an EU citizen improve/hinder chances of job placement? We are not married, and neither desiring/against marriage as an institution. Okay with getting married if it will smooth our transitions a bit. - Suggestions for job seekers' resources in the UK, particularly London? Bonus points for health-related and/or immigrant-focused resources. [more inside]

Have I been a "continuous" resident of the UK?

Five years ago I immigrated to the UK on the basis of ancestry. I am now applying for Indefinite Leave to Remain. Since my visa status changed partway through this period, I am worried that my residence may not be considered "continuous". Has anyone applied under similar circumstances? Alternatively, can anyone recommend the best forum on which to ask such a question? [more inside]

Cross-border marriage - what are the issues?

Due to a series of very bad events, my wife and I have ended up employed in two different countries. We are both American by nationality and university professors by profession, currently employed in the Netherlands. Her new position, for which she is applying for a visa now, is in Scotland. She cannot have her old job back, and I do not have a position in Scotland. So we are both foreigners in the countries in which we are employed, and we are (or, rather, will be soon) employed in two different countries. What are some of the immigration issues we need to consider here? [more inside]

UK immigration - Tier 1 extension refused - need to appeal urgently

I applied last year to extend my Tier 1 (General) Visa and it was refused last week. Potential jobs in London?

UK (and especially London) folks, where should a returning US labor union staffer work in the UK? Advice or Experiences with UK Immigration?

I am a Canadian that has been living in America for 8 years as a permanent resident. I currently live with my English boyfriend, who is here on an L1 visa (which is being transferred over to an H1B). We are in the process of getting my paperwork together so that he can sponsor me as a common-law unmarried partner to move to England. As I've done this before (Canada to America) I do know that one of the best ways to get some insight into the underbelly of immigration is to ask people who have been through it. [more inside]

Can I Move To The UK on $50,000 Per Year?

What are the prospects for a retired American with a gross annual income of $50,000 to relocate in the UK? (Not London or other large city.) Living without a car would be in the mix. I've lived in the UK and wonder if I could make it on that income. Is it sufficient? Could I convince the immigration folks to let me in? Not planning anything imminent. But it woud be nice to rule it in or out as an option.
