I applied last year to extend my Tier 1 (General) Visa and it was refused last week. The Home Office's refusal letter said the evidence to support the income claimed did not meet documentary requirements. I need to appeal by Tuesday next week or lose my right to appeal and face deportation.
Panicking and wading through masses of contradictory advice. Please help...

I am a soon-to-be-divorced UK citizen (soon-to-be ex-wife is American) with a permanent resident card (expires 2019). Married in May 2007, came here September 2010, divorcing either this month or next. I'm moving to San Francisco end of May 2012. What, if anything, do I have to tell INS regarding my marital status? And which forms to fill out?

UK (and especially London) folks, where should a returning US labor union staffer work in the UK? I’ll be returning to London (location non-negotiable) early next year after almost ten years in the US. I left the UK soon after I graduated (I’ve never held a career job there), and I’ve worked as a labor union staffer in the US, working my way up to positions with a good deal of strategic and management responsibility, but I'm absolutely open to a change...

I am a Canadian that has been living in America for 8 years as a permanent resident. I currently live with my English boyfriend, who is here on an L1 visa (which is being transferred over to an H1B). We are in the process of getting my paperwork together so that he can sponsor me as a common-law unmarried partner to move to England. As I've done this before (Canada to America) I do know that one of the best ways to get some insight into the underbelly of immigration is to ask people who have been through it.

What are the prospects for a retired American with a gross annual income of $50,000 to relocate in the UK? (Not London or other large city.) Living without a car would be in the mix.
I've lived in the UK and wonder if I could make it on that income. Is it sufficient? Could I convince the immigration folks to let me in?
Not planning anything imminent. But it woud be nice to rule it in or out as an option.
