What is the best approach to color management? I only just realised that how I see my photos in iPhoto, Photoshop, and Safari isn't how the majority of people on the net are seeing them? What is the best setup for consistent color management that still looks good? [more inside]

I'm trying to find the counts of various colors in an image, preferrably in order of frequency of use. I'd like to select a photo and BAM! see a list of all the colors used, in order. Can anyone recommend any software or techniques for doing this?
