Thinking about buying an iMac.
I'm looking at the 24inch model with 2.8 MHz processor. I plan on doing some Final Cut and After Effects work, nothing insane like HD or heavy graphics. Will this computer serve my needs? [more inside]

So I just got the newest iMac today (the one that was announced last week).
After 4 hours or so of use the fan has kicked on in a most noisy way and it won't shut down. Restarting does nothing. Take time to let it cool. Restart. Just more fan.
So...anyone got a "here-n-now" fix or do I take it back to the store in the morning?

So now that the new imacs have arrived, it's time to sell my old imac and my boyfriend's old pc and use the new imac. I've figured out that we need Parallels and can use Transporter to bring in the necessary pc programs/copy of xp. These are the steps I think I need to do to get the pc stuff working (the mac stuff looks like a cinch): [more inside]

I thought I was a Mac geek, but I'm beginning to think I'm not. Can one take an Intel iMac, plug in an external monitor and TOTALLY DISABLE the internal screen? I'm beginning to think it's not possible.

Recommend a good printer for my Intel iMac, under £100, for general personal use? Mostly for text - doubt I'll be printing many photos. Thanks!

I have an Intel Imac that I bought roughly a year ago. I connect to the internet using comcast and an Airport Express. Recently, I added WEP security to my airport, for obvious reasons. I also changed the airport channel to 7 (and then 4) from 11 because I was getting lag while playing Xbox Live using a wireless adapter (I live in an apartment with many wireless networks around me).
Every since, my computer just decides to leave the network about every 5 minutes. It's SO ANNOYING. I only have to click on the network again to rejoin, but does anyone have any ideas? I made both changes at the same time.

Every time I boot up my Intel Imac, I have to unplug and then replug my external hard drive in order for it to mount. It's a 160GB Seagate SATA internal that I put in an iRocks 3.5 enclosure (USB). When I open up Disk Utility, the drive is not displayed in the left column (until I unplug, then plug). It's just storage for my EyeTV files, but still annoying to have to do that every time. Ideas?

I just installed the Creative Suite2 on my new Intel-based iMac. If I have InDesign open Photoshop will crash upon opening or crash InDesign and open Photoshop. The two will not run simultaneously. A fresh reinstall did not fix the problem.
