My girlfriend has serious bipolar disorder. I love her, but living with her is very, very difficult. She breaks down all the time. I don't know if I should commit to a life with her, and deal with this into perpetuity, or if I should move on and try to find someone better adjusted, leaving love for peace and stability. In recent months, I think I have experienced a significant decline in my health and I am not sure what to do. I have been exhausted hardly able to stand up straight, my tremors have become excessive, my legs even shake now and sometimes I worry about falling over, more and more I forget the simplest of words (e.g., "shirt"), and I feel befuddled and slow. I have seen a neurologist . . . [more inside]

I've had a lifelong heart issue that's really never been a problem, but I find myself as I head towards my 30s growing more and more concerned with it and it's come to cause daily anxieties over imminent and horrible death, etc. Sometimes the anxiety is mild and sometimes it is of the stomach-churning, dark visions variety. I see a cardiologist on a regular basis and get good reports and generally feel as though I am in good hands, but I still cannot stop this mounting anxiety and fear of calamity and it's starting to hinder my ability to enjoy life. I am wondering if anyone has similar experiences and perhaps tips on how to combat this kind of anxiety. I do suffer from anxiety in general - who doesn't? - but I feel that this issue has become a focal point.

I've started to write this question a dozen times in the last year, but I always stopped before clicking the submit button because I'm afraid that the answer is that there is no answer. I catch colds with alarming frequency- five or six times a year. If I make any sort of contact with somebody else who is sick, I can expect to have what they have within a day or two. I'm 21, HIV negative (recently tested and long abstinent), a vegetarian with a healthy diet, I excercise frequently and I take vitamins. I'm also currently taking Lexapro for depression. My question is twofold: first, what's wrong with me? Doctors insist that I'm fine. Second, what can I do to keep from getting sick so often in the future?
