I'm trying to identify/find this pre-1980 story set in America, about an epidemic (highly contagious, spread skin-to-skin) where everyone's turns grey and the victims have hallucinations. The protagonist is on the run (along with a woman?), trying to escape roaming victims (who have a craving to touch his uninfected skin). In that last aspect, it has a zombie apocalypse feel to it. I believe it was a little-known work by a big-name author. Can anyone tell me what it is? SPOILERS BELOW [more inside]
Can you help my friend identify this scifi short story about aliens and a shield around the earth? [more inside]
Science Fiction character identification: Which SF story had a sort of Friar Tuck like character who followed all faiths simultaneously and had the symbols for multiple world religions hung around his neck?
Some homuncululi may have been injured in the production of this banana peel based construction material
Help me identify a dimly remembered short story... A scientist has created or evolved a race of tiny super intelligent creatures. By setting cruel puzzles for them (such as a descending weight that threatens to crush them) he gets them to invent things for him, one of which was a super strong material made out of banana peel. It most likely ends badly for the scientist.
What is the name of this really disturbing science fiction short story? (potentially NSFW description) [more inside]
Can you help me remember this barely remembered cartoon from my childhood? A community of alien looking people live on a floating island and go out in flying boats to catch flying whales. Every so often one of them would turn blue and die, and they would throw him down a well. The well was actually a hole passing through the island and as the body fell it would turn into a new sky whale. Any ideas?
