I went to summer camp in northern Minnesota in the late 80s/early 90s. I was exposed to all kinds of awesome music there from kids all over the country, which was a huge big thing for young midwestern me. I remember sitting on a cold lake beach listening intently to a mix tape one of the older girls was playing, and there is a song that has stuck in my head ever since. The chorus is something like "So wave goodbye to everything you knew." I can still noodle it out on piano and guitar, but I can't identify the song. Please help. [more inside]
Hi. I have a really vague description of a song, and I'm wondering if it rings a bell for anyone. Looking for an 80's/90's song with the possible chorus lyric of "hush now, don't say a word." Female vocalist. I also remember some synthesizer in the song as well. I've uploaded a really bad humming version of the song you can listen to here. Driving us crazy! Thanks for your help.
There was a duet in the late 90s sung by r&b artists...one male, one female. Only thing I can remember is that it was a love song, it had a lot of bass and one of the lyrics was about Al Green. The singers went back and forth as if they were in a relationship, I believe. [more inside]
Hi, mefi! I am looking for a song (ideally a recording that I can listen to) called "Run Run Run". It was in an elementary school music textbook in the mid-eighties, but I have currently found only one mention of it on The Web, on this page. [more inside]

Can you review the criteria for a song I'm trying to track down, and help me find it? 1980s pop/dance sound, male vocalist, lyrics like "you shine so great". [more inside]
When I was on vacation in Chicago last year I stopped by the Field Museum and happened to catch a video in the Senegal exhibit of a musician playing and singing a song that I thought was really beautiful. I recall that he was playing the kora and that the lyrics pertained to a shaman or similar person. I have tried looking on the Field Museum website and sending them an email but no dice so far. Does anyone know who is in the video and/or the name of the song?
I have part of a song stuck in my head. The lyrics I can remember are something that sounds like "A A, B B - CCDD, CCDD" - that is literally what is being sung, it's not the rhyme scheme. Who is the artist and what is the track called? [more inside]
It's sung by a woman in some kind of retro rock-y style that I can't quite articulate. It's a list of foods that girls either.. like or don't like, and the chorus is about popcorn.. I think. Challenge: pretty sure this is from a Portland, OR band, as I heard this on the local Portland-centric radio station KZME. [more inside]
My son has been watching this Mario Power-Ups video, and I cannot identify the song at 1:37. Can you?
Heard a Sting (The Police?) song at the bar, never heard it before. Funky '80s sound, totally fit my mood that night. My google-fu failing me, I turn to the wisdom of metafilter.... [more inside]

I think it's a recent song - The chorus has has a woman singing in a simple voice. She sounds young and has a neutral accent - the non-chorus parts of the song I think is a reggae hip hop deal, but not sure. [more inside]
In the mid-ninties, there was this techno song with a vocal instructing the listeners to raise up their hands, "raise them up." His voice was calm and could've been sampled from a movie (it was not like the more cliched sample of a dj or singer revving up the crowd, it felt almost religious). What was the name of this song? [more inside]
Name this song: female singer, sounds kinda new, on an indie radio station. Lyrics say something about "the worst" or "what's worse?" and "people say I'm _____ because I have no plans to settle down." [more inside]

I'm looking for a recording of a song, but I can't find it anywhere, or even who might have recorded it! In Get Up by Chinese Man there's a sample of a song (starts about 20 seconds in). From googling the lyrics I've found the song seems to be called Lazy Lout, but that's pretty much all I can find. [more inside]

Hi, I need some help identifying a song. It was a slow Korean R&B song by a male solo artist. I don't remember much about it, I think there was a sole electric keyboard at the start playing a simple accompaniment. (not sure though) I know it is vague, but if you post some songs, I will try to lead you into a more specific direction.
For those who are awesome at identifying songs from next-to-nothing - why does the guitar part from this song ("Aaron and Maria" by the American Analog Set) sound so naggingly familiar? I know I've heard it before, but for the life of me I can't place it. [more inside]

SongIDFilter: Can anyone identify this song? It's from a compilation CD, and I have no distinguishing information other than the song itself. It sounds quite familiar, but no-one I've asked has been able to place it. It seems rather cinematic, making me think that it's from a film score, but that's really all I have to go on. Any leads would be much appreciated.
