Is it true that when I get a NY state non-driver ID card, they won't ask me to prove my street address? According to the DMV's
list, my passport plus my social security card are enough to get me a state ID. Neither of those two things shows a street address (and I have no proof of my address, and I've never had a driver's license or non-driver ID). Does this mean I could just write my address (or for that matter, any NY state address!) on the form at the DMV?

Can you identify
this painting (164KB, flickr) for a friend? She's had it as wallpaper for awhile but doesn't know where she got it from. It looks Picasso-esque to me but I don't think it is him, not that I've got a great knowledge of his work.

Help me find a durable retractable ID badge holder.
This is similar to what I'm looking for, but the problem is that I only need ONE and not one hundred of them.
I've been searching for quite a while now and can't seem to find anywhere that will sell just one. I'm having no problems finding them in bulk, but that isn't what I need.
I have an ID badge holder now but it has a nylon cord and I've already broken two of them. I want something more durable than the cheap nylon freebie ones.

My cat needs a microchip ID implant in order to enter Japan with me. Japan (and most of the world) uses ISO-standard microchips, but the de-facto standard in the U.S. is incompatible. The main supplier of U.S. pet microchips has gone so far as to sue companies who try to sell world compatible chips to the U.S.
Does anybody know how to get an ISO-standard chip for my cat in the U.S.?

What exactly is the problem with the proposed change in the definition of science in Kansas?
Here's the proposed change:
"...continuing investigation that uses observation, hypothesis testing, measurement, experimentation, logical argument and theory building to lead to more adequate explanations of natural phenomena."
And here is what we'll all recognize as the "Scientific Method":
1. Observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena.
2. Formulation of an hypothesis to explain the phenomena. In physics, the hypothesis often takes the form of a causal mechanism or a mathematical relation.
3. Use of the hypothesis to predict the existence of other phenomena, or to predict quantitatively the results of new observations.
4. Performance of experimental tests of the predictions by several independent experimenters and properly performed experiments.

If you were somehow stupid enough to lose every piece of identification you had--driver's license, green card, social security card, foreign passport and birth certificate, student ID, everything--how would you go about starting to recover it? You seem to need two pieces of ID (or at least one) to get any given ID replaced.
