Is an outlet box for fridge ice maker necessary? (turns off water)

I just ordered a new fridge and was told by Best Buy that they won't hook up the ice maker if I don't have an outlet box (a water shut off valve that is right behind the fridge). Right now, I just have a plastic tube coming up out of the floor that goes straight into the fridge. Is it necessary to have an outlet box for my fridge? I have never lived anywhere with one, everyone seems to use the ol' tube straight into the fridge method. If needed--is it easy to DIY (I'm confident with basic tools) it or should I call a plumber? Otherwise, I was just going to connect the hose after the Best Buy guys have left.

Not by the hair of my ginny gin gin

My favorite drink is a Tanqueray and tonic and has been since I was young. In the US, especially as a teenager, people told me that it was a cranky old man drink while marveling at how it glowed under blacklight. I traveled to London once, and a guy there told me that it was a "chick drink". I, of course, don't let what people think of it affect what tasty, tasty alcohol delivery vehicle I choose, but where you are, what's the "reputation" of gin-based drinks? Are they "manly" or "girly"? And how did it gain that reputation? I'm holding a gimlet right now because I've run out of tonic water.

If I make wine ice cubes will they still be alcoholic?

I was thinking about making wine ice cubes to keep my wine cold while drinking it without diluting it. My question is, will all the alcohol evaporate? Will it still be potent? If anyone knows for sure, please let me know. Thanks!

Brooklynfilter: Dig my car out of the snow before or after it rains?

I returned from vacation today (Brooklyn) to find my car under a few feet of snow and piled high on the side after the plows came by. It's supposed to rain on Sunday. Should I dig it out before or after the expected rains? Will the rain further turn the snow to ice or melt it? The temp on Sunday is supposed to be a high/low of 47/32. Thanks!

How much to pay for someone to shovel snow off the roof?

We live in the D.C area and have had ice dams on our roof and its starting to cause leaking problems. Nothing drastic, but some water is starting to drip inside of our windows. I put some Deicer in socks and threw them on the gutters to try to clear a path for the water to go, but that seems to be taking forever. Our neighbors have some guys shoveling snow off their roofs and they said they would do the same for us for $500. Is that too much to pay? Our house isn't that large, its a split-level home.
