I've got a pair of Shure e2c's for listening to music on my iPod and as noise cancelling discreet headphones go, they're great. However as comfortable and secure in the ear headphones go, they suck. What am I doing wrong? [more inside]

I'm trying to split up big mp3's into smaller ones and my usual tricks aren't working either because either the track information I have is wrong or the CD is not listed on freedb. Do I have to suffer some number crunching or is there a better and easier way to break them up? [more inside]

[MacWorldFilter] So, I finally decided to buy a 40 gig iPod after my last posting. However I've now found out that Toshiba have announced a 60 gig drive and are shipping insane numbers of them to Apple. Oh, and now it turns out that MacWorld is happening in Boston next month. My question is: What is the chance that Steve will announce a new iPod at this show? Do you think he will announce the same 4th Gen iPod with a bigger HD or that they'll go for a 5th Gen? If it would be launched, how long would it take to get to market in the USA (and then UK)? I understand that technology always moves on, but the last thing I want to do is buy something and then one month later it gets superceeded by something dramatically better.

In light of my ever mounting pile of music, and after much deliberation and review of the options, I've decided to buy a 40 gig iPod (Windows version). I have the PC (complete with firewire), I have the music software (iTunes, Anapod Explorer, CDex) and I have the music. However, does anyone have any suggestions on essential accessories (hardware or software) that I should buy at the same time as the iPod to save me a world of pain later on?
