I have had a reasonably happy relationship with my T-Mobile G2 (aka HTC Desire Z) these past two years, but my contract is up, and I have long coveted the iPhone, mostly based on its picture taking and video chatting capabilities. Should I just get one and take advantage of T-Mobile's new pricing? Or should I jump to a new carrier? An attempt to make this less open-ended is inside.

Could I potentially ruin my Iphone (which I love) if I take it to some guy suggested by T-Mobile to get it unlocked because AT&T won't give me the unlock code.

I currently am on my parents plan with an iPhone 4 via AT&T for my phone/data. I would like to keep my phone and number, but move to T-Mobile on to my wife's plan. Is it true that
3G will not work as this article suggests? Can I use any other carrier beside AT&T without gimping my phone? Is there any chance in the future of compatibility with Tmobile?
Also: would this nullify my unlimited data with AT&T? Is it possible to get off my parent's plan and on to my own without losing unlimited data? (I was told they no longer offer it..)

iPhone/AT&T user, tired of my iPhone and wanting a new (reasonably priced) smartphone (thinking Blackberry) WITH GPS and a reasonably priced cell phone plan with minutes/unlimited text/unlimited data. BB/smartphone users, tell me your experiences, as well as T-Mobile users.

When the first iPhone came out, I bought it as soon as I could and jailbroke it so I could use it on T-Mobile. Now I want to upgrade to the newest iPhone and use it with my existing plan which works great (I pay t-mobile some standard data rate, I don't have 3G, that's okay, and everyone is happy).
What are my options? Is this even possible? Any and all resources welcome. Thank you!

If I jailbreak an iPhone to T-Mobile, can I roam to achieve 3G speeds? (I'm thinking the iPhone 4 here, but nobody can comment on that with complete accuracy, yet.)

I'm being offered an iPhone for the same price as an iPod Touch, which I've been planning to get; which one should I get? What's the difference? Also, I may be switching from AT&T to T-Mobile soon; if I do, will I be able to use the unlocked iPhone without incurring charges for the internet like AT&T does automatically?

I moved to Germany and then moved back to the USA after three weeks. While I was there, I signed up for a two year T-Mobile iPhone contract, because at the time I thought I was staying in Germany. Now I am stuck with an expensive 2 year contract that I can't use.

It's come the time to buy a new cellphone. I have a RAZR V2 and it's falling apart. My Verizon contract is up in November. Should I re-up with Verizon and stay on my family plan or should I break off and/or go to another carrier? And what phone should I look into? All I know is that I do not want a huge fold out QWERTY keyboard like a 16-year-old girl with a Sidekick and probably do not want a Motorola.

iPhone - AT&T/Cingular or T-Mobile (USA) ?
I'm in NYC, peak minutes usage < 300, 50% of minutes to same 4 numbers, data usage likely to be high. Criteria: minimize the following, in order of priority: cost, dropped calls/network weirdness, customer service craziness, crap-tastic contracts.
I'm obviously fine with hacking/unlocking my iphone.
