My iphone 3gs screen is locked keeping me from entering the passcode. When I try, the computer voice announces the action but in a very rapid cadence but still doesn't permit me to unlock the screen. The phone is relatively new and I would like to continue to use it. Any suggestions?

I have an iPhone 3GS, Version 5.0.1, Modem Firmware 06.16.05. Every unlocking method I've looked at states that if the 3rd, 4th and 5th digits of the serial number are greater than 135, unlocking could brick the phone. The digits on mine are 927. Is there any safe way for me to jailbreak and unlock my phone?

My wife wants to get an iPhone, and is currently on Verizon. I already have one. What's the best route for us to go? If she gets an iPhone4, can I take it and give her the 3GS just by swapping the SIM cards? What is your experience with AT&Ts family plans, or are we better off having separate accts?
