I have to be at work earlier than usual for the foreseeable future, and I am not much of a morning person. Still, I have had considerable success by breaking my routine down and gamifying it by giving myself points for hitting different markers (e.g. 2 points for getting up without hitting the snooze button, 1 point for hitting it only once, 1 point for heading out the door with the dogs at a certain time, 1 point for arriving at the office on time, 2 points for 5 minutes early, 5 points for more than 5 minutes, etc.). I then give myself little rewards for certain numbers of points (e.g. two days' worth of on-time arrivals equals a latte at my favourite coffee place).
I think it would be fun to be able to track this on my iPad, and am looking for something that will allow me to re-use the same checklists and will count points as items are completed. I've looked at the various checklist and "to-do" apps, but none of them seem to fit the bill, especially the point-tracking aspect.

A friend's iPad has a screen protector that is slightly micro-bumpy and rubbery. I call it "nurbly." It breaks up reflections but doesn't dull the display the way matte screen protectors do, since it is shiny, but bumpy. Another friend has the same thing on his iPhone. Neither of them can remember where they got it. Does anyone have this and know the name of it? I want to put one on my iPad mini.

I'm trying to find an app for organizing my PDFs on my iPad mini. Ideally, this app would enable me to sort my PDFs into folders *and* allow me to open the PDFs either within the app or in another application (such as Note Taker HD), *and* I'd like there to be a companion desktop application (for Mac) or website or whatever so I can organize things on my computer when I want. I am finally going to stop using a paper calendar and start using my laptop/iPhone/iPad instead. However, having used ol' reliable paper for so many years, I'm a bit paranoid about using Google calendar (or an app) and then losing all my data somehow... Is there an iPhone/iPad calendar app that would make me feel more "secure," or is there a service like Backupify that doesn't
require a Google Apps account? I'd love to back up my Gmail too, if possible. (Am I just worrying too much? Is using iCloud enough? I am clearly clueless.)

So I did a time-lapse and set the frame rate way too high. Now it will only export around 700 pictures to the camera roll and I can't figure out how to get the rest. Every time I get the photos from camera roll to iPhoto, iLapse just starts from the beginning again. So I can get the first 700 just fine, but not the rest. This sucks. Please tell me there's a solution! [more inside]

I am looking to get my Mom and iPad sleeve or carrier, to protect it from kicks, drops, scratches and whatnot while it is in her purse. There seem to be about a zillion of these around, in so many styles that my head spins, but I think what I want is along the lines of this
. The problem is it also needs to fit a Logitech Ultra Thin Keyboard Cover as well as the iPad, and I can't read that from the specs page. Does anyone have experience using a similar Bluetooth keyboard/cover with a sleeve and can recommend one that works? I'd like something small, and not aesthetically unpleasing, because Mom is going to be much more concerned about if it is light and looks nice then if she can throw it off a building. That said, I am buying it to protect the iPad. [more inside]

As an aspiring artist, I've recently acquired a habit of saving to Dropbox every image I find particularly inspiring or useful as an artistic reference. This is fun and motivating, except I'm realizing that my Finder-based 'folder > subfolder' organizational structure is doing a poor job of keeping up with my needs. I'm looking for software recommendations (Mac OS X) or general tips re: sorting a frequently-accessed image collection that will eventually number into the thousands. The catch: the system needs to sync with an iPhone/iPad. [more inside]

I am writing some documentation for an app that runs on the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. I need a consistant way to refer to these devices and am looking for something better than "iPhone/iPod/iPad". For example:
"Hold your iPhone/iPod/iPad's camera so that the QR code is centered in the brackets."
I've come up with either
"... iPhone/iPod/iPad (referred to as iPhone from here on)"
Anyone have a better idea?

Hubby says we should get an iPad for Christmas and share it. How many couples do this and find that it works out ok? My first thought was that a mobile device is usually personalized. What if I put my books and tons of apps on and he thinks its too much and gets in the way of his finding stuff? Can we each have different "home pages" or am I just being selfish? I'm more techie and experimental than he is. How do we decide who gets custody of the iPad and when? I dunno maybe I'm over thinking this.
