My iPad insists that I'm using almost all of my available hard drive space. But I have no idea how, and the app-by-app breakdown purporting to show what's eating the storage doesn't add up to anything close to the 22+ GB it claims I'm using. Here's a screenshot. (Scrolling down shows only a couple more apps using very small amounts of storage.) What could be going on here? How can I figure out what's eating my hard drive space? I have no music or video on the device as far as I can tell.
My iPad 3 (the first retina) running iOS 8.1 will drop the wi-fi connection fairly regularly. This often happens when streaming video via BBC iPlayer or YouTube apps. Any suggestions on how to fix it? [more inside]
My iPad 2 recently bit the dust. Before then, I had been using the iPad for entertainment + school, as well as a droid smartphone for typical smartphone things. My droid is also on its last legs, and I'm considering changing my technology situation to an iPad Mini with mobile data + a dumb phone (just talk and text). Questions ensue. [more inside]

I teach 5th grade and have a few student who struggle mightly with reading and writing. In order to help them with the writing process we are exploring using the ability of the ipad to take dictation and create a document. I would probably use the Pages app, but wondered if there were other apps out there other teachers have found to be useful. Caveat, we need to be able to convert the document to MS Word (which is easy to do in Pages). Suggestions? Experiences?
I have an iPad mini (16GB, wi-fi only, running iOS 8.x) that I use mostly for reading the web--never for listening to podcasts--and want to get rid of the podcast files that are unwanted on the device and just taking up valuable space. [more inside]
After my water bottle spilled in my bag two days ago, my iPad was functioning normally, but had water spots on the screen. So I spared you folks and asked Google what to do. It's been sitting in a bag of rice for almost 24 hours. Now, the screen turns on (via both the power and home buttons) but doesn't respond to touch. And there's rice lodged in the headphone jack. I don't have any warranty or insurance on it. What do I do now?!
I use GoodReader for reading sheet music on an iPad (3). What wireless page turners work well with iOS (particularly with GoodReader)? I am not so much looking for Google search results that I can find on my own — but if you have experience with a page turner device and how well it works with "standard" or "common" reader apps, I'd like to hear about your positive or negative experiences!
I work with high school students who all have iPads. Because the ipad is so handy, and because iMovie is so easy to use, I want the students to edit their video projects on the ipad. Currently they use adobe premiere on desktop computers. I am not having any success finding simple solutions to this. [more inside]
I'd like to get my iPad engraved with: When this baby hits 88 mph / You're gonna see some serious shit. Apple rejected shit and sh*t, but accepts sh.t sh;t and sht. In your opinion, do any of those read as intentional substitutes rather than typos?
MobilePrintingFilter - I needed a diminutive printer, and only the HP Officejet 100 fit the bill. I've got it working fine from my Macbook via direct USB, via Bluetooth, and, having USB-connected it to the same Airport Extreme base station that delivers my internet connection, via Bonjour. Now all I'm missing is... printig to it from my iPad. [more inside]

The NYTimes for iPad app was recently upgraded to v3.5 to match the style of iOS 8. When iOS 7 was released, the New York Times released v3.0 which "broke" several features for me, forcing me to downgrade to v2.x. Can anyone tell me how v3.5 handles "Saved Items?" [more inside]

I just set up a Chromecast. Casting from the Chrome browser on my Windows PC works fine, as does Youtube on my Android phone (Droid Maxx running 4.4.4). No other apps (tried Netflix, Google Play Music & Movies, and HBOGo) work (won't even show the cast icon). I also tried Netflix with an iPad (running iOS 7, but not the latest version) and it didn't allow me to cast either. But I am able to successfully see the Chromecast device from both my phone and iPad using the Chromecast app. What might be the problem?

Need moar gamez, plz hope! (for Mac or iPad.) I love Myst-type, atmospheric, "wander around beautifully illustrated worlds and solve puzzles" type games, especially with at least a little narrative quality, and want to avoid timed segments (do this within a timed period or fail), explicit / realistic violence (I don't really want to be killing things or wandering around bloody rooms, etc.), or games where advancement hinges on say, physically jumping from one thing to another thing in just the right way, at the right speed, etc. Specifically, I don't want to have to do much or any repetitive clicking/tapping movements, because ouch. I'm in my early twenties and new at cooking, but can follow directions so that's a start. I'm just wondering whether I should buy a kindle version of a cookbook or stick with the paperback. I have limited storage space, which makes a kindle version very appealing. On the other hand, slightest slickness of the finger might not mix well with flipping pages on an iPad, not that I'd be handling my paperback slick with meat juice or something either. Veteran homemakers/cooks/chefs/etc. what are your thoughts?
