A Question About "I" Vs. "Me"

I understand the normal rules for "I" and "Me" in sentences, but I simply cannot figure out the answer to this example. What I want to say is that my dad and I are regional truckers (or me and my dad are regional truckers). If I stay true to the "I" vs."Me" formula I learned in school and eliminate the objective pronoun, the simplified version of the sentence can be written as either "I are regional truckers" or "me are regional truckers", and both of these look atrocious written down. I'm not a seasoned grammarian, but even I know that neither one of these seems to be the correct answer. Am I missing something?

I expect to find out by next week if I am laid off. I don't believe I will be able to find a job that pays as well and I am kinda burned out anyway. I owe 40K in cc bills and owe 227k on a house worth 187K. I have not missed a payment and have a credit score of 700+ but I have HAD ENOUGH. I want out.
If they do lay me off, I will get full pay for 10 weeks...then unemployment..
So there are three things to do about the house: 1) do a deed in lieu, 2) do a short sale 3) 'just walk away' Which would be the most advantageous to me? Do I tell the banks that when I am laid off or when I am on unemployment? How short is too short of a sale? What exactly is 'just walk away' in Colorado?.

Onto CC. I don't pass the means test for 7 so that's out. I can do the credit counciling route...but I don't know who to trust. I worry about picking a fraudulent counciling service that'll take my money and do nothing. Even then the legitimate ones work for the CC companies and will slant advice their way every chance they get. Even bankrupcy lawyers have restrictions on how they can advice you. And you KNOW just as soon as I tell one of these places I am in trouble the rest will hear about it and jack my rates to 30% because unemployed people have SO MUCH MONEY...so timing is also an issue..
I am hoping to get a list of things to do like:.
1) tell mortgage companies when you hear about layoffs and offer ###.
2) stop paying mortgage that day (or after the 10 weeks or after ???) .
3) keep paying cc bills (or stop paying cc bills) .
or .
1) Go to find a reputable credit councilor fount at (website or phone) the day you hear about the layoffs and tell them (cc, house, want out...).
2) stop paying the mortgage that day or in 10 weeks or ???.

After all this crap, I don't care if I never own another house again..

Now, lets say you have no idea what the best thing to do is...what is the thing I shouldn't do? OR who knows what I should do?.

Should I take out a car loan? I live in an expensive country but it looks like I'm about to get a steady job with a decent salary. My partner too. We're about to make the move from student style living to normal life and I want to finally buy a decent car that will last a while. But I'm not sure if taking out a loan on a car is a good idea, especially when the car won't increase in value. Can anyone advise? Especially with regards what rules of thumb there are for car loans...I read somewhere above a certain percentage + number of years means the whole thing becomes extremely ill-advised, but under that percentage it's okay.

Obviously the best thing would be to pay for the whole car with saved up cash - but to do that I'll have to wait a lot of years.

What command and conquer style computer game should i play? I enjoyed c+c generals but im looking for a new strategy type game to try. The new c+c 3 is a bit too laggy on my laptop though.

What similar games could you recommend? Ive heard of games like age of empires but i havent tried them.
Older games are okay too, as my pc, (which runs vista and windows 7 okayish) isnt very powerful graphicwise.

My wireless lan connection is enabled, but i cant turn it on!

My wireless lan connection is enabled, but i cant turn it on! It seems to be in perfect working order, the only problem is that to turn wifi on, i have to press a soft button above my keyboard.
Since installing windows 7, these buttons don't work (they make a sound when i press them, but they have no function)

Have I transformed an insanely great and clear-cut early relationship into a friendship? Oh boy, relationship filter.

So, last semester I met a girl at a party briefly, and we both went back to our friends raving about how cool each other was. So, we saw each other a few times early this semester, and everything went great. At that point, I was just hitting the end of a rough, annoying non-relationship with a girl (literally not a relationship, but just the constant possibility of one culminated in her simply lying)

And so, after a party, I woke up to see that she had asked me out to eat something sometime Awesome, pure win. We schedule a date, and I hear from some mutual friends that she seems to consider it a big enough deal to tell some of them about it, and one simply asks "so you're kind of into him?" And she says yeah!

Cool. Date. Then a few more, mostly really lots of talking, great conversations and great times. Some of the time with mutual friends there too, sometimes without Good times, maybe 3 hours of just chatting in front of a lake or whatnot. She took the initiative about the first and really many of the other times we hung out, although I arranged a few too.

So, I try to be more gutsy (long history of just being nervous and these things slipping past). After a show we went to, asked what she was up to, and she was really positive about doing something afterwards. So, movie, her apartment. Great movie, great time. Her roommate comes back, we talk to her for a bit, it's great, everything's great. During movie - holding hands, cuddling, arm around, etc. Roommate goes to bed, movie ends, lights still off. So... earlier we had a funny conversation about how her roommate's gaydar is absolutely terrible and that sometimes they just end up with that... so I try to be funny, and say "Ha, well on to an earlier topic, I'm totally not gay, and I think you're awesome." Yeah, I know, I'm an expert wordsmith when I'm nervous.

To which she responds "Yeah, well, I think it's awesome hanging out with you. I mean, is that cool with you?"

And I respond, sure, yeah, definitely, anything's fine with me.

Hmm. Up to this point, we had been hanging out, talking, close, good times, absolutely no signal otherwise. My spider sense sucks, sure, but I feel like given the signals I was getting 95% of guys would have guessed something other than friends. Especially when it's been totally endorsed and advised by friends who have talked to her about this.

So, possibilities:

Somehow I'm a master at achieving the friend-zone, and here I've done it somehow by being awesome to hang out with.
What I said conveyed that I wasn't interested, or was too interested, or some other option.
She wants to just hang out, because it's the best, with me.
She wants to hang out and then hook up, because that would be the best ever.

I'm not terribly broken up because (unlike previousgirl), she seems to be 100% honest, and I hugely appreciate that. And, I haven't gone all in here, she's the only girl I'm currently interested in, but we've only known each other well for a few weeks, I haven't been yearning for months, etc. I do, however, have few relationships under my belt for my advanced age (early 20s) and apparently have transformed at least one previous mutual crush into a friendship that she "wouldn't want to turn into a silly short term relationship."

So what should I do? This hit me as very much a surprise, and I feel like the best thing is to keep going at it, although that so directly conflicts with what's been said.

I don't mind lumps in my mashed potatoes, but none in my bed please.

How can I get the lumps out of my goose down mattress pad? I've had a goose down mattress pad on my bed for a while, and it has provided me with tons of comfy night's sleep. Today, while changing sheets, I decided to shake out the pad to get rid of some dust, in doing so I shifted the down in the pad and now the pad is lumpy. Does anyone know how to get rid of the lumps and redistribute the down in the pad to make it even and comfy again? Did I just ruin my pad!? Help!

"i decided to ...." or "I interviewed"

and turning it into:

"the author interviewed..." or "it was decided to'

can you throw me some good, strong academic phrases, intros and generally strong words to get my juices going again.

Please help me find another sewing-kit-in-a-pen like the one I bought at Brookstone in the 1990s. Back in the 1990s, I went to Brookstone and bought a gadgety-cool yet practical clear ballpoint pen that contained a complete sewing kit. The pen refill held five tiny thread spools, and the remaining space in the plastic chamber held a couple of needles and a safety pin. The sewing kit slid out of the plastic sleeve using the refill as a spindle.

It's been a source of aid and amusement for many years, but it finally grew legs and walked away.

I bought the original as a gift, and I'd like to replace it.

Despite my best efforts at Google-Fu, I cannot find *any* pen containing a sewing kit.

Please help!

Laptop purchasing advice. I used to have a clue but somewhere in the past 5 years I lost track of what a user of my level needs compared to what a, say, 24-hr W.O.W. / black-market-DVD-ringleader might consider necessary. I process large images, use Photoshop, and download a lot of music. I want my hard drive well-hung, but how much is too much when it comes to RAM? And I want a 17 or 19 inch LCD.

Do I have an option besides creating my own system on Dell.com? They give me too many options. And they keep trying to push multicolored accessories. That my mouse and my laptop match are less than important to me.

Mac's are out of the question for certain reasons.

I guess I want somebody to point me in the direction of the website with exactly what I'm looking for for less than $1500.

I find the details overwhelming. Helps me please. Thank you.

How can I find out if someone I used to know is in prison? I live in Canada, and about a decade ago, I knew this guy who had just been charged with robbing someone at knifepoint. And before that, he always told me that he always wanted to be a "godfather" kind of person. He watched the movies over and over. At that point, I basically stopped talking to him and avoided him at all costs. Sometimes, I google his name, but I just get other people. But at the same time, I am curious as to the trajectory of his life. I'm curious what transpired. How can I find out if this dude is in the penal system?

What looks, uh, the least bad on a transcript - a C or a D w/ an A or B as a repeat grade? Basically, I want to know from a school or employer's point of view, is the better to have received a grade of a 'C' or to have gotten a non-passing grade 'D' or similar with a higher grade the next quarter when I'd retake the course? The original grade will not factor into my GPA, however it would still appear on the transcript. I'm confident I'd do much better the second time around, but is it even worth it or should I just try to finish off the course strong and most likely, end up with a C or C+. It should be noted I have to achieve a C- or worse to be eligible to repeat the course, so getting a D would be on purpose.

crunch-filter: how do I stop my abdominal muscles from aching? it seems I went a bit too far with my crunches this week and now I'm unable to sleep with an aching tummy. I realize there's probably not a lot I can do about that right now I'd like to keep this from happening again, mainly because a sore stomach feels horrible. it's as if you were sick and wished you could throw up but just can't.

so is there a way to stretch your abdominal muscles? especially the upper ones seem to be the issue for me.

I have been working steadily and consistently for the last three years but not at jobs that show growth or project development (which everyone seems to want to know about). How do I find a new (better) job now? After graduating college and earning an elementary school teacher's certification I immediately moved out of state and was not eligible for a full teaching license in my new state. I worked as a substitute teacher for 3 years while my wife finished her doctorate. I was also employed as a Customer Service rep for a national co-operative (part time).
Now I'm moving back to my home state but am having serious reservations about entering full time teaching after becoming disillusioned about our education system.

Question:
1.What do I do with my life?
2.How to show on my resume that I am intelligent/ valuable given my limited (professional full-time) working experience especially at 28 years old.

very tech oriented (my main hobbies including building computers and tweaking software, but I have no certifications or way to show my skills on paper)

I have a bomb in my kitchen

I have a plastic container of "milk" that has an expiration date of 12/07 in my fridge. I use milk only to cook, and my refrigerator is a small, crowded and scary space. This (almost full) container got lost, somehow. Anyhoo, tomorrow is trash day, and I'd like to get rid of this toxic waste with the least possible collateral damage.

At this point, the liquid is mostly clear with a thick white substance on the bottom. Can I put the almost-full container in with the other trash? Will the temperature difference cause an explosion? Should I--dare I--pour it out? Is leaving it there until it develops an advanced culture and concomitant space program of its own the answer? Or shall I add it to a plate of beans?

I have a two part question, about mold in the US, in buildings and the like. I'm thinking of moving, and I'm also allergic to mold. So this is a huge concern for me. a. What parts of the US is mold rare? and b. What parts of the US is mold commonplace? I'm not talking about situations where there's shoddy workmanship, a leak, Hurricane Katrina and the like, where mold will grow no matter what.

Instead, I'm interested in the parts of the country where it's rare, and the parts of the country where it's ubiquitous, *under normal living conditions*. 10 years ago, I moved from Madison, Wisconsin, where I never had a problem, to Seattle, where it's cool and rainy climate seems to be a perfect incubator for the stuff. As a result, it's made me ill.

For a myriad of reasons, including mold exposure, I'm thinking of moving out of the Seattle area. While this will not (obviously) be the only determining factor, I'd rather not relocate to another city (like Portland, OR) just to realize that mold is prevalent there as well.

So, I'd like to hear what's out there. Many thanks!

Depilation & tretinoin?

I've been using tretinoin for adult acne since July, and my purge phase seems like its never going to end. One thing that seems to re-aggravate my skin when it's ready to calm down is depilation. I used to wax my upper lip, but the tretinoin label specifically says not to wax. Tweezing, both lips and brows, seems to provoke more zits, as well as taking for-freaking-ever. I've been thinking about bleaching the hair on my upper lip, but am worried that this will just make everything bust out anew.
I'm hairy as a saquatch and covered in zits. Please help!

Any suggestions for snapping out of a rather too-absorbing trip down memory lane? I recently decided to polish up a very long essay I wrote many years ago but the experience became eerie. I spent months writing that essay and the couple of hours I spent re-reading it just now has brought back memories from that period in all its glorious and sordid detail.

Vividly remembering the atmosphere/my own feelings/emotions from that period is really creepy. I feel transported into a time, that, though it was fun, was also quite intense and emotional.

Remembering/perhaps reliving my state of mind from back then is distracting me from being in the current moment and doing what I would otherwise do. Any suggestions from snapping out of a rather too-absorbing trip down memory lane?

How do I successfully plan and execute a powerpoint presentation on the merits of transhumanism? Here are my raw notes so you can assess whether I am a dumbass or not and perhaps help me:

(By "raw" I mean this is a mishmash of idea shards, speech material, and concepts to keep in mind. Go easy on me!)

Transhumanism:

Earlier in this course, specifically during our reading of Carl Elliot’s Better than Well, we touched upon the subject of enhancement technologies and how they relate to the human identity. The goal of this presentation will be to relate the concepts inherit within the enhancement technology movement, and their relation to the more radical, but inexorable terminus of Transhumanism.

Transhumanism can be achieved through the stringent adherence to a regimen of enhancement technologies
Wikipedia defines enhancement technologies as: “any attempt, whether temporary or permanent, to overcome the current limitations of the human body, whether through natural or artificial means.”

Max More stated: “Transhumanism is a class of philosophies that seek to guide us towards a posthuman condition. Transhumanism shares many elements of humanism, including a respect for reason and science, a commitment to progress, and a valuing of human (or transhuman) existence in this life. Transhumanism differs from humanism in recognizing and anticipating the radical alterations in the nature and possibilities of our lives resulting from various sciences and technologies”

The purpose of Transhumanism is not to turn one’s own body into the Terminator, it is simply to bridge the divide where natural evolution left off. In essence, fix the problems that Mother Nature (the mechanisms by which nature operates) won’t and can’t.

*Discuss natural problems that nature did not evolve a perfect solution for.

*Discuss structures and their associated shortfalls… “panda’s thumb-esque”

*Would the populace then become obsessed with self-improvement due to envy and/or the boundless possibility in perfection?

*Diseases of aging exist for no other reason than that advanced age is well beyond the scope of reproductive age and thus maladies faced in such age will not be the defining factor in regards to fitness.

Applied science is consciously directed rather than the undirected force of natural selection. The Transhumanist philosophy espouses the ethical outgrowth

1) Explain Mother Nature’s mistakes

2) Explain that genetics do not have to be perfect, just “good enough” to be passed on via evolution by means of natural selection. Thus justifying the Tranhumanistic agenda of self-improvement through technology and applied science.

Flight Simulator on TV rights

Do I need Microsoft's permission to show their flight simulator environment on television? Doing a program in which I'll be in a flight simulator. I'd like to grab the data from the simulator, and, movie-like, show the plane flying from several different angles inside the simulator environment. My company thinks we need Microsoft's permission to do this. I'm not so sure.
Carried out to the extreme the implications are ridiculous. I'm looking for both opinions, and from anyone who's actually dealt with this on a practiacl level.
