I have recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I've been tested for this annually over the last five years ( standard health MOT tests, its not something I've been anticipating although my maternal granny has hypothyroidism since her 60s) In January it emerged that my TSH tests are
borderline abnormal and the antibodies test actually gave a strong positive . My GP explained that this indicates it may not be a big problem right now, but that it is something I will inevitably have to deal with sooner or later.
Frankly the thought of having to take medication every day is really depressing me and I'm reluctant to start it now if I can put it off till later in life. May not seem like a big deal to some folk to have to take one pill every day but for me to be dependent on any type of medication is such a grim thought. I plan to go overseas at the end of this year to Asia and last thing I want is to have to be worrying about a daily medication.

The doctor I just saw is a quack. I knew he would be, but I set up an appointment anyway. I've been dealing with fatigue and chronic pain, and regular doctors haven't had an answer. So I set up an appointment with a doctor that practices "functional medicine" as a last ditch effort. How do I reconcile what this doctor told me with what I know about real medicine and the load of bullshit I was just fed?

First test: thyroid fairly normal, TSH elevated. Second test comes back with no antibody activity and normal thyroid function. No treatment planned, but I'm still feeling like a ton of bricks has hit me. What now?

A friend of mine has Hashimotos and just (happily) got pregnant. She's super worried about her pregnancy and I'd love to send her a care package, but I know there's tons of exclusions of food for both pregnancy and Hashimotos, so I'd love some input on what would make her day!

Bunch of symptoms, maybe hypothyroid, what do I do next? For the past several years, I’ve had a bunch of nagging symptoms that together have been very frustrating, and at times debilitating. The onset of the symptoms was about 7 years ago. My GP initially thought hypothyroidism, but the tests came back normal. As the years have gone on, the symptoms have waxed and waned but never gone away, and I keep getting retested for hypothyroidism at my doctors suggestion, but the tests always come back normal. After looking at the actual values from the lab, and a bit of research, I’m wondering if it isn’t in fact hypothyroidism, and what to do next.

I'm a little over 8 weeks pregnant, and other than the insane morning sickness, feel like I'm in good health. However, my thyroid results came back with normal free T4 and elevated TSH. Neither my regular doc nor my midwife seem concerned... so should I relax?

What is "color sensitivity", in the context of it being a symptom of hypothyroidism? It appears on
this list of symptoms, but I can't find anything else that will tell me how someone with hypothyroidism might experience color sensitivity.
